A449 Wolverhampton Road closed, emergency repairs - April 2013

I've just heard that the Wolverhampton road is going to be closed both ways between town and the railway bridge due to emergency repairs. Anyone any truth behind this? All I've found is this but I never really take note of their travel info, it's normally wrong. Are we going to be faced with stupidly long delays again?

Possibly they don't know about the emergency yet in the relevant department

It was on the matrix signs when I was out and about earlier. So like any story in the Daily Mail, it must be true.

Oh frabjous joy, calloo, callay. What's not to like? Newport road / west way or Lichfield Road / Rickerscote. All we need now is a few incidents on the M6 between Jcns 13 & 24'. Bring it on!

We've had a letter from Severn Trent yesterday .

It's a big letter so.....
This is my understanding of the closure - Essentally The Wolverhampton road will be closed between garden st & telegraph street, with diversions in operation via telegraph street between apprx 8 & 5 on Sunday.

So if the supervised diversion will take you down telegraph st - i imagine it will take you through friars terrace to exit on the Newport road and vice versa.

At least they have warned people this time, their usual trick is to stock pile equipment for anything up to fortnight before the event and then start drilling at 6am on a Sunday saying its an emergency!
