I'm reserving judgement until I see what the traffic situation is I do live near by and just hope it isn't going to cause too much of a traffic problem at the moment I'm hoping it doesn't end up like the traffic getting in and out of Tesco.

Soon see in the morning on my commute to work

I thought there might be some hold up on Radford Bank but breezed past. However car park rammed and people driving round car park aimlessly... wonder how many people will end up parking on Windsor Road.

People queuing the length of the store outside with a man with a speaker and a microphone providing some kind of entertainment.

Or just turn left out of there and do a U turn at the roundabout?

Yeah with a fugly building.

Because Tesco and ASDA buildings are so attractive.

The new shopping centre in town is hideous too, they've used the same fake stone cladding as Faulty Towers.

ALDI in Hednesford is right on the road and much uglier. It is due to ALDI using small sites. It could be away from the road if it was on a huge site. People didn't think it was possible to put one there.

Cannock one is close to the road too.

Enjoying a drop of red.
I am more worried about the traffic congestion than what it looks like.
Mercifully it didn't seem to be a problem when I drove past at rush hour. Things were flowing freely and one would expect the place to be busier than usual with it being the grand opening.

I personally think that it may actually ease traffic congestion in town.

You have all the local people including those from Rising Brook, Baswich, Milford, Wildwood, Brocton, Acton Trussell, Bednall.

Now supposing that a fair few of those stop off at Aldi instead of going into town to Asda, Tesco or Sainsburys, then this will reduce the traffic in the town centre.

For those at the North end of town it will be still be quicker to go to Sone or Lidl or the new Aldi when it opens.

Both of those Aldi buildings are much lower in height than the Stafford one which makes a lot of difference to how they look and how they are in relation to the road.

Re: Tesco and Asda - all supermarkets are sheds, it's the nature of the 'pile them high, sell them cheap' philosophy.

Well unless you want to browse the store in a dingy I think the height is appropriate for its location.

From what I can see there's not really any house directly opposite and the others will actually get better light since there is more clear land now.

You don't like ALDI, we get it. As someone who is sick of paying over the odds at Co-op I welcome the end of the Co-op monopoly.

Height of the roof, not the height above sea level it's been built at. Surely you can understand that?

As for liking Aldi, as I have never been in a store so I can't say whether I like it or not. It's the building which I think is a poor design. Sorry for having a different opinion to you.

Drove past earlier and there were four cars queueing to turn right into the store and the fourth car was blocking the road out of town. I can imagine that this may well be a regular occurrence.

I walked down this afternoon and could see that happening quite a lot as I walked down the bank. Buses and lorries couldn't squeeze past the ones in the centre right turn lane, and once four cars were waiting to turn in nothing else behind was going anywhere fast , as the right turners were relying on the constant oncoming traffic to give way to them. Several waiting drivers were actually giving up and carrying on driving towards Radford Bank instead.

Same here, and after having a look around Aldi today I'll be walking past the co-op in future for those odd items I need quickly. With Aldi nearly on my doorstep , and their cheaper prices actually going through the till at the price on the shelf rather than having the usual arguments at the Co-op when half the items go through incorrectly, it will be ideal for me.

Being on foot this afternoon I had to stop myself going mad and slinging too much into my basket, but got a feeling the trolley will be full when I've got the car. Hubby will be like a kid in a sweet shop , slinging everything in.

Judging by your avatar, did you get a good look at what the non tea, coffee, pop aisle stocked? Any decent ales, per chance?

Popped in again later during our walk when hubby came home from work. He spent quite a bit of time eyeing up the booze aisle in readiness for our stock-up at the weekend. I can't remember what beers were there except it was under a quid for a bottle of Banks's. Most beers about £1.25 a bottle. Quite a few different wines from £3 upwards to get round to trying out, as well as some ciders I've never seen before :)

The 'Sweet Chilli ' chicken portions I got for tea were really tasty, infact considering cooking the second pack to go with my ciders later (Greedy I know, and hubby would be :blah: , but they were soooo lovely ). Saving all my pennies now for when I drive down to do a proper shop. Some nice tasty looking stuff in the fridge section ( including the £1.59 extra mature cheddar which is going down a bit too well )

Not so crowded when I went back about 5pm-ish , and a few spaces left on the carpark at that time.

Quite a few people walking from there with a few carrier bags full, so looks like the Wildwood Co-op maybe losing quite a few local customers.
