Stafford's noisiest manhole cover has been attended to by some workmen. The aforementioned item is on the Newport Road close to Alis/Al Karims, for the longest time it has clunked loudly when driven over by vehicles. I did say to one of the workmen that it was about time this was sorted however be seemed oblivious as to what I was talking about.......

The area wunna be the same without it, whilst out on patrol earlier today I noticed a white football trapped at the weir on the river. This could be seen from the footpath from Randles to Millbank. Also seen today were police officers at Scaffoldshire Place carrying tasers..........

Now you have to join one big queue to enjoy the benefits of putting people out of work.

Too true. But if people stop using the self-checkouts then they will still employ checkout staff but the way it's going all the tills at supermarkets will be self-checkouts.

Afraid so, what they save in staffing more than makes up for the flagrant shoplifting those tills allow. I saw someone weigh a bottle of whiskey once and say it was potatoes, cost him about 50p!

I avoid them like the plague. I hate the bloody things and the few times the assistants have talked me into using them I've ended up getting in such a state and taking so much longer because of "please call for an assistant" and an assistant has had to come and turn his/her key to allow certain items like booze through,"unexpected item in baggage area " to which assistant comes again, puts the key back in and says continue .... In B&Q I had to actually go and hunt out an assistant to put my turf through the self service till. Was wondering how many customers just hadn't bothered and wheeled their goods merrily past those unstaffed tills that evening:raise:

The worst self service tills I've ever used were the ones they originally put in at Ikea at Wednesbury....It used to spit out the receipt before telling you to take your card out so most people ended up walking out without their card....
