People still go up and jump over the wall to get to Tesco , after they removed the entrance there.I see a fair few people loitering down there when I walk past so had assumed there was something down there

There's a vehicle access to the back of Eagle House down there and I've seen a few of the residents from there hanging around.
I believe the road is still owned by Network Rail as it used to be the access to No4 signalbox and is still an access point to the track.
Most cars are parked up and their owners off on trains by 06.30/07.00 so I would guess that there wouldn't be many people around there when this attack happened.
In days gone by the road led to the BR Staff Association club as @Gramaisc has already said as well as to the old coal yard and the sidings on that side of the railway. The wall was the boundary wall of King Edward VI grammar school.
Tesco cctv only covers the actual entrance doors to the store. It doesn't matter, pretty sure someone from tesco would have seen this, coming in starting work, or even in the building looking out.
Not to mention there's CCTV around so he probably caught on that.
he's been charged very fast, so must have all they need thankfully
There's a back door to tesco for staff, that doesn't get used anymore, and eaglehouse is further down
There is a camera pointing at the fire doors on the corner by the railway and there is a 'dome' camera under the 'porch' roof, on the corner by the back of the petrol station - what coverage would be available from either of those is a matter of conjecture.Tesco cctv only covers the actual entrance doors to the store.
... as I said...There is a camera pointing at the fire doors on the corner by the railway and there is a 'dome' camera under the 'porch' roof, on the corner by the back of the petrol station - what coverage would be available from either of those is a matter of conjecture.
Two of the doors on that side are exit-only fire doors - the third, by the railway, has what looks like a little-used intercom to persuade somebody to open it fir you from the inside. There is also what looks like a night safe sort-of-thing, if that is even still in use, it looks a bit rough.... as I said...
Of course the lens and where it is pointing matters, but it's likely to be pointing where Tesco want it to. For motorisation to select an activity would imply some advanced automation or a very attentive human intervention.@Gramaisc
Depends on the actual FOV lens.
Many 'Dome' cams will have a large FOV and some can be motorized within the dome too.
I've just ordered a PTZ that not only does just this but can also zoom .
My cameras in use at the moment have such a large FOV that by law I have to manually set a Blur as to not pickup other properties in the area.
You can see it on Street View - it could see along the 'blank' side wall of the store, along the 'alleyway', but it seems likely that its main purpose would be viewing along the front of the store.Agreed, just saying its prob picking up more than the doors even though it looks like it is.
Not seen the actual cam and where its situated , but if theres enough distance between it and those doors itll certainly pick up from the sides too.
The cctv cameras that cover N-U-L are that clear. I used go up couple of times a week wehn my mate was doing it, saw all sorts of sights....as a side note
When I was working security with securicor based at jcb , they had some cracking cameras there that could see a gnat scratching its bits a mile away.
Was fun watching the locals having 'fun' when nipping around the back of the nightclub
I was under the impression that other door was blocked off because thiefs kept robbing the store and leaving through that exit, and it was too hard to manage both exits.Tesco blocked pedestrian access from the front of the store to this road as they claimed that it was a private road which did not belong to them and to which they had no right of access. I think it belongs to Network Rail and also acts as a rear access to the Eagle premises
