Australian actors popping up everywhere

is it me, or do people who one would usually consider crappy australian soap actors keep cropping up everywhere, in the sort of proper, credible roles you wouldn't expect to see soap actors??

the first i noticed was vinnie from home & away starring as one of the main characters in true blood.. then i happened to catch a repeat of the matrix on itv2 the other night, and was reminded that leah from home & away was the "white rabbit girl" who entices neo from his bedroom!

then, perhaps most surprising of all, bloody steve from neighbours popped up in one of the matrix sequels the following week!! steve, from neighbours??

and now there's some new doctor in home & away, who i recognised from somewhere.. where? yep - both the matrix sequels!

i'm not sure where i'm going with this thread lol.. post your "surprising shit cameos", i guess - australian or otherwise :teef:

Alan "Jim Robinson" Dale was in S2 of Torchwood, and I understand he's in Ugly Betty too.

another good one! yeah, he was a main character in season 1 of ugly betty, and is one of the main "is he/isn't he evil" overlords in Lost..

plus mike from neighbours, of course, who went on to make such pearlers as l. a. confidential and memento..

to be honest, all this stemmed purely from how amazed i was to see bloody steve from neighbours in a matrix sequel.. i mean, steve?? lol..

If I remember my DVD extras correctly the matix sequels were filmed in Australia so it makes sense alot of Australian actors are in them.

Indeed. Walked the streets of Sydney just as filming was finishing, tho barely recognised the buildings by time the film came out.

Not Australians, but:
The back-of-the-van traffic warden in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels? He of comedy show and panel game fame, Mr Rob(ert) Brydon.
The posh type who, in an episode of Ben Elton's cop sitcom The Thin Blue Line who feeds Serena "Sgt Dawkins" Evans the line, "Do you know who my father is?"? Mr Alexander Armstrong.

Who's the fresh-faced young actor on the right, in this tv programme from the early 1990s?
Answer in a day or two.
Clue: he's not Australian. :) (Sorry...)
**EDIT: Hopefully nobody saw this post with the wrong picture... :)

An Australian this time; Peter "Shane Ramsay from Neighbours" O'Brien in Doctor Who - The Waters Of Mars.
And congratulations to Wyred! I would post the picture with the credit, but unfortunately I've forgotten the password for Coobeastie's image hosting and haven't got the DVD handy to regrab. Will post it some time in the next day or two. Probably.
