Hopefully Ted Manders, Head of Planning and Regeneration will explain all at Tomorrows Meeting

I am also interested in what Potential Local Traffic Management means. I am looking forward to hearing what Mr Manders has to say !!

Humps, chicanes, traffic lights and unusable cycle-paths..?

Traffic lights on the bridges is my guess ! I hope that they are planning some improvements to the mini roundabout accessing Saxonfields but I expect not as that would mean less land for the CEO's development.

The new cycle bridge is nice but they haven't dropped the kerb yet as it meets the road, hope they haven't forgotten.

No doubt these people have been on some sort of council training course to help them deal with the great unwashed.

Stage 1. Ignore the question and say something irrelevant about clause in NPPF, while adopting a supercilious attitude.
Stage 2. Look hurt/bewildered and refuse to comment, suggesting that it's unreasonable to expect a Head of Planning to know anything about planning.
Stage 3. Shake head and look cross.
Stage 4. Walk out in Olivier award winning false umbrage, then make immediate call to other council inmates, confirming that all proposed schemes will go ahead.
Stage 5. Collect bonus.

The width of the path is a tad ridiculous, are they expecting the next Stafford hospital march to go down and through Baswich Lane up to the hospital, I mean why so wide?

They can't possibly continue that width up to and past St Thomas Lane, right, can they, really?

I'm sure their capacity "improvement" is for the numerous walkers and cyclists* that take that route, rather than the road capacity being improved for motor vehicles, as this is impossible.

i'll review my opinion in December 2016, when almost all the work is complete.

*unseen numbers suggest they far out number the car users, taking this route!?

Can't attend myself, but some suggested questions for the Head of Degeneration.

Why were trees in Baswich lane area cut down before application submitted?

How can Stafford taxpayers expect a fair assessment of apps submitted on behalf of a property development company, whose chairman is the local ward councillor / council Leader? As such, surely he must act in the interests of his shareholders.

When infrastructure is already overloaded, why embark on more schemes that will only add to problems?

Why does SBC appear to ignore the wishes of Staffordians and the concept of 'localism', while apparently being run as an agent for property development companies, the only real concern being to build as many houses as possible in order to collect council tax bonuses?

It's not for me to answer your questions pppppp and I think questions 2-4 are fine. As far as question 1 is concerned, given the land is in private ownership I don't think it has anything to do with Planning & Regeneration, I wouldn't expect or want them to comment on the trees in my garden!!!

I can't remember how many years ago it was that the Government decided that Stafford was a 'Growth Point' - someone with a better memory with me will probably be able to tell us, but I guess that was the start of the plans to expand Stafford from a business and residential perspective??

One minor point - the planning authority and highway authority are not the same organisation. Planning is Borough Council, whilst highways/transport is the County Council.

As for localism, in reality I think it is pretty meaningless. Planning and housing policy at a national level is completely flawed, until that is sorted out (never probably) I can't imagine planning at a local level improving. The only people currently winning are housing developers.

Check out the SBC Tree Strategy. I think trees anywhere are classed as an 'amenity', and the council policy is to preserve them if poss. To avoid objections, nasty developers chop down anything inconvenient before submitting a planning app.

Yep, Localism and the NPPF are complete bollox.

According to the E&S there are 1000 empty homes in Stafford!

Disgusting that 'our' County Council did NOT send a representative to last nights meeting in Baswich, And that 'our' County Councillor didn't even turn up

Highways issues are CC, shame on them

Disgusting, but predictable. What about BC? Did you manage to embarrass anyone?

I am not surprised at all that they didn't attend. They would not be able to justify their actions - "no objections' to planning apps even when there are obvious problems with access, parking etc and of course the traffic flows on our already congested road. What input did they have for the scrapping of the EDR behind Saxonfields. They are a "developer's dream".
