All premises that are memberes of BARCS, work together to make Stafford a safe place to enjoy a night out, BARCS is helping to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour within the town centres of Stafford and Stone
Retail and licensed businesses have joined together to combat and actively reduce all aspects of crime and inappropriate behaviour.

There is information sharing agreements between BARCS, Stafford Borough Council and Staffordshire police.
Members are linked directly to town centre CCTV centres by personal radio, delivering real time assistance and direct access to Police staff.

Members have access to information and images of offenders who persistently offend. A managed civil exclusion process is also part of the scheme, which allows the information to be used by all staff to reduce further incidents of crime or poor behaviour.

The number of exclusion orders from licensed premises currently numbers about 180 and they run from 3 - 12 months, depending upon the offence in any premise in Stafford, so for example assault on a lanlord or member of bar staff would result in a 12 month ban.

Hope this answers your question.

Impressive, is this paid for by the council or do the retail and licensed businesses fund it ?

Yeah they turned me away for having trainers on roughly 4 years ago as well. Its not like I wear chavvy trainers either they would not have been bright white sports shoes.
I've also know my mate be turned away for having pockets on the leg of his black trousers - no combats allowed they said.

Always find dress codes a strange thing - as if you can tell what people are like by what they are wearing, I know plenty of people in Stafford who have been upset by such strange rules at a number of establishments, needless to say we havent got any such rules other than we ask for people to respect others.

It stems from a Home Office initiative and BBNUK says - "There are no national BBN fees for schemes to start up. It varies from scheme to scheme as to whether an application fee is chargeable to the licensed venue that wishes to take part. These can vary from £15.00 - £50.00."

The chap in B&Q that looks like a bouncer was doing the greeting today and I asked him if he was enforcing a dress code - I believe that he considered throwing me out..

Exactly! When you wear a suit to work all week the last thing you want to do is have to dress-up just to get in somewhere on a Saturday night.
