It is very useful as a car park. The struggling bed shop closes. They will convert the building (a former hotel) into apartments and sell them with the luxury of a private parking space. They can then charge far more for the flats than they could without parking. And with private parking the council would struggle to find a reason to reject the planning application to turn a run-down neglected building into apartments.For a small plot of land with no planning permission? I can't see a use for it TBH unless you could build, it's only of use to those that live there.
