Car taxed?

My first go at driving was in a Maxi, well sort of. Dad managed to break his left hand while changing a power press tool so, aged about 13, I was nominated as chief gear changer.
The first thing I ever drove was one of these. In Famagusta. I would have been 14 or 15 and me and a mate asked a passing Swedish soldier if we have have a go in it. To our surprise, he said "Yes". We thought he was just going to take us for a spin round the block, but then he started explaining the controls and we were committed.

Of course, your Dad could have changed gear in that, being LHD.

I think I didn't drive a car again until I was 26. Jim Owen's Fiesta was a bit easier...
