I've been trying to fathom a cheap train ticket to take the kids to London later this week ( museum trip) and as London midland trains have such a bad track record any one got any suggestions on how we can do this , I've got a family rail card , but it still comes up at £100. 2 adults 2 kids , thanks

Yes, I 2nd the plan ahead - I think last time I went down to Londond it cost me £26 there and back. It's worth remembering there are loads of offers (2 for 1, free entry) etc attached to train tickets too - there should be a leaflet in the train station.

My parents bought tickets to go to London next week about 8 weeks ago, it is with London Midland but with their railcards it's cost £25 between the 2. So yes, as everyone else said, plan ahead.

Trains are not something you just walk onto I'm afraid. It's pre-book or **** off, unless you are rich. Going back a bit, but in '98 it used to be cost me £16.50 return from Southampton if I booked 2 weeks in advance, or £55 on the day. I am led to believe the price difference is still similar.

How do I find trains just on their network?

£24 with a railcard is pretty good if it's really anywhere!
