I have the same problem, I've never been able to use the Internet at mcdonalds. I've tried using a few round the country and it's never worked :-(

Same here, i've tried in McDonalds, Wetherspoons, KFC, a number of pubs/Brewers Fayre type places and never succeeded. I've only ever tried mobile devices though, never a full laptop.

REgister???? really

The last time i used macdonalds, i just connected to their wifi, opened my web browser and it presented me with a page that just requested my email address. i typed in mini@mickymouse.com and it let me surf away.

Having said that, it was several years ago so things could have changed

Mrs W claims to have had success in Wetherspoons a few years ago. I've never been able to get the DS to connect to anything public.

I suspect the DS thing is to do with it only being able to log on to things secured in a certain way - which is the least secure way of securing anything, so no one uses it. (Does that make sense??)

Tesco's Cafe now offer it all you need is your clubcard, if you don't, you get 15 mins free, then you are encouraged to sign up for one.

You mean WEP rather than WPA? True, but I would have expected that since it's designed to be public/free it should be unencrypted. Or not?
