Just had a message from my boss asking if I'm taking half term off, I've queried how many holidays I have left and if I have to use them by April.

Legally you should be able to carry them over. Although I know of a few work places that are trying to worm their way out of this

Hubby was intending to use 2 weeks carried over from before last April , for the 2 weeks booked for this March and April. Still got most of this years May-April left yet as well. At this rate he'll be building up a few months worth of holidays to keep carrying over by the time we can go away anywhere!

Suited his boss for him to keep working whilst he hasn't needed/wanted the holidays , as he's been busy being part of the supply chain of specialist labware to places around the world involved in the Covid testing , treatments and vaccine process. (And he might as well keep working at home, rather than sitting bored with time off and can't go anywhere anyway. Can't have him sitting hogging the telly all day ;) He'd drive me even more bonkers ! )

I know a few people who’ve had the jab. All were notified by text & they all replied yes to the question. I suppose if you don’t reply for whatever reason they’d contact you by letter. Father in law was contacted through sister in law ( she’s his contact point at gp’s)
Well, it looks like I spoke too soon. I’ve just had a phone call from GP practice booking me in for Friday. At the Roman Way at Cannock!!! It seems our GP comes under South Staffs so different procedures for different areas.
Nice to know I can either drive past at least 2local vaccine centres to get there or I can go the other way & drive through the vivid hotspots of Hednesford & Cannock to mix with all those dodgy folk from Cannock etc.

Yep. Can’t wait. Really didn’t expect to hear anything quite so soon. Just hope none of those dodgy Cannockites get too close to me. :buddy::buddy:

Oh, you seem to be overly unhappy about going to Roman Way. I'll go wherever I need to to get mine.

Looking at it more positively at least you have a legitimate excuse for going for a decent drive. A rare luxury at the moment.

I was just about to say driving to Cannock is a decent drive is pushing it a bit. It really would be a nice drive from the Beechdale though

Now I'm more concerned the 'Private Call' this morning , that I missed when my phone didn't ring or vibrate, could have been the GP practice. When they've phoned in the past it's come up as Private. Hopefully if it was them they'll try again soon.

Why not call them to check? Apparently some people are being given jab appointments and they aren't quite in the top 4 categories so it can't do any harm to check.

If nothing else it will put your mind at ease.

I don’t know if everywhere is doing this or even the in’s and outs of it but my friend who lives in London said that near her there are places where you can go on a waiting list.
Apparently in areas with a high BAME community they are getting a very high number of no shows.
So rather than the vaccine go to waste they ring people up on the list and if you can get there within half an hour then you’re jabbed.

It might be worth finding out if there is a system locally that does this. I’m not in favour of queue jumping but surely it’s better than vaccines being thrown away?

Might give them a ring later tomorrow just to check if they do actually ring patients for appointments from that practice.

I should be in the next '5th' phase being 65.

A neighbour works in Stoke hospital . When they were first giving the Pfizer vaccinations he said when they had some left at the end of the day they were more or less grabbing passing people and asking if they wanted one to save wasting them.

I know people who are 65 that have been called this week and gone up the same day. As the showground use Pfizer and have to defrost first I guess it does need using more quickly.

Decided to go out for a walk after finishing work this evening. I went through The Riverside & there was a gang of around 10 'youts hanging around the benches outside M&S. I have two questions: 1) where are the Police to break-up the toe-rags? & 2) why are their parents letting the toe-rags go out? (to be fair they didn't look the sort of kids who's parents would give a toss!).

I'd try phoning your surgery in the morning, the surgery contacted us by phone as an unidentified number, I missed mine, phoned back and got an earlier appointment than stepson who had answered his phone.

As the showground use Pfizer

Stepson & I both got our jabs at the showground and they were AstroZenaca.
