Have you tried composting?Possibly some of the money could be used to reinstate services already axed, like brown bin collection? Council CEOs will no doubt be asking for their salaries to be reduced. We're all in it together.
If stuff is shredded, or just cut up into smallish bits, it can be scattered in the borders and nature will deal with it for you.Have you tried composting?

Seriously mate, of all the things money needs to be spent on at the moment, garden waste collection must come perilously close to the bottom of the pile.
Have a sense of perspective.
And we are all going to get a letter to inform us of the fact !Garden waste collections start again from next week.
Which bin should the letter go in?And we are all going to get a letter to inform us of the fact !

They once sent me* a letter, in a window envelope, telling me, amongst other things, that I couldn't put window envelopes in the paper recycling**...Which bin should the letter go in?
Not sure why they'd need envelopes in the first place. Who cares if a postman or anyone else reads what everyone's getting anyway.I don’t think you could easily run thousands of envelopes through a standard multi-functional device. You could print labels but it’s more labour intensive to print labels, transfer them to non-windowed envelopes and then stuff them with the letter. So on a cost basis, windowed envelope would be cheaper despite making the council look a bit daft.

I've run into a problem in that I'm over 70 and supposed to be self-isolating. The plan was that the County Council would drop off a one-off free parcel with some basic items (which they kindly did) but subsequently I was supposed to ring the Borough and someone would do a shop at the Co-op and the Co-op would ring me and I would pay 'off the card'. I rang the Covid-19 support team at the Borough Council and they started to take the order but when I mentioned I needed some gluten-free items the man said I had to contact the County Council if I had a dietary need. He put me through but the lady I spoke to there said that apart from the one-off parcel they only deal with the most vulnerable of the vulnerable and people who have received a letter from the Government saying they are 'shielded'. I don't fall into that category so I'm in s pickle. I've sent an email to the Covid-19 support team asking if they are sure about it because I can't believe I'm the only 70-something person who has coeliac disease. The lady gave me some phone numbers to try. Last time I looked at the online supermarkets they had no slots. Friends and neighbours have offered to help but some have already bought me provisions and we haven't settled up yet and I don't want to get to the end of this thing (if I do get through it) and find myself owing this person, that person and the other person. Sorry Stafford Forum for expressing my frustration here. I must stress the Council staff have been polite. I'll update if I hear anything further - like there's been a mistake. I know it is fortunate that the Council has organised any sort of volunteer scheme but it's just my luck that I fall into a category that doesn't fit either scheme.
22 million is like taking a tinkle in the North Sea so to speak.
