Honestly, I think it's a rose tinted glasses thing right now, where people are kinda overlooking the fact he was a known child abuser.

It's relatively well documented that he slept with a 13 year old. I imagine more will come out the woodwork now he is dead.

Indeed. You can read a chunk of it here . Long story short, she allegedly lost her virginity at 15 to Bowie, and then she dated Jimmy Page for several years afterwards (remember in cali, age of consent is 18). It's not a his word versus hers ... it was pretty widely known about by most involved at the time, right down to magazines doing interviews with the girls.

It boils down to inthe 70's there was a phenomenon called 'baby groupies' ... and basically a lot of high profile Rock stars were at it with them. Here another link. They were all allegedly at it, unfortunately.

I think in Hammer of the Gods I read about Jimmy Page and the young girl, it was different in the 70's is never a defence.
