Dementia...

My Dad has dementia, and even though my Mum is still alive and he never goes out alone, the reality is he’s rapidly getting to the stage where he won’t recognise me. We can no longer have a conversation really, because he’ll forget what we’re talking about. A disease where someone is alive, but they’re not 😥
Is this somewhere where people can bring it?

Perhaps we can find some solace together?

My Dad had to endure his own Mother not knowing who he was for the best part of 20 years.

My Mum had to endure her Mother-in-Law asking her who 'that man' was for all of those years.

O what fun we had.

Nan has it, she's 97 and in a care home and doesn't know who anyone is anymore, most of the time at least. I'll write more about that some other time, but I'm getting ready to go to a wedding today.

Just wanted to say if anyone is looking for podcasts about this subject I'd heartily recommend "Down To a Sunless Sea" and "Discovering Dementia"
