Destruction of Doxey Marshes.

I spent ages typing out a comment to submit but my session timed out. I am going into town tomorrow so I will go into SBC offices and ask if I can make a written objection - rather pissed off and stressed out now...

This can happen online all too often.

WMR's top tip...
When filling in anything online that needs a long message, make a habit of copying the text to your clipboard before you submit. For those who aren't sure how to do this, highlight all of the text first by dragging across it with your mouse button held in (you can also sometimes double click anywhere within the text box to highlight it all), then hold down CTRL and press "C". If something goes wrong with the form you can then try again by simply pasting the text back in (CTRL + "V"). :)

Funny how the SBC officer report hardly mentions NPPF 118, thereby being deliberately misleading. The part about adverse effects 'in combination with other developments' also brings in the bypass and application to build on Brooklands site at the other side of the marshes.

When determining planning applications, local planning authorities should aim to conserve and enhance biodiversity by applying the following principles:
  • if significant harm resulting from a development cannot be avoided (through locating on an alternative site with less harmful impacts), adequately mitigated, or, as a last resort, compensated for, then planning permission should be refused;
  • proposed development on land within or outside a Site of Special Scientific Interest likely to have an adverse effect on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (either individually or in combination with other developments) should not normally be permitted. Where an adverse effect on the site’s notified special interest features is likely, an exception should only be made where the benefits of the development, at this site, clearly outweigh both the impacts that it is likely to have on the features of the site that make it of special scientific interest and any broader impacts on the national network of Sites of Special Scientific Interest;
  • development proposals where the primary objective is to conserve or enhance biodiversity should be permitted;
  • opportunities to incorporate biodiversity in and around developments should be encouraged;
  • planning permission should be refused for development resulting in the loss or deterioration of irreplaceable habitats, including ancient woodland and the loss of aged or veteran trees found outside ancient woodland, unless the need for, and benefits of, the development in that location clearly outweigh the loss; and
  • the following wildlife sites should be given the same protection as European sites:
– potential Special Protection Areas and possible Special Areas of Conservation;

– listed or proposed Ramsar sites;26 and

– sites identified, or required, as compensatory measures for adverse effects on European sites, potential Special Protection Areas, possible Special Areas of Conservation, and listed or proposed Ramsar sites.

I think it is fair to say...

... that, whichever side of the fence you choose to sit on, the common denominator is ^this.

Makes you wonder what fecking Century we're living in?
Nah, we've just deluded ourselves with the notion that class privilege is something of the past - the lord of the manor will get their way, just as it's always been.

I had to play rugby at school and why anyone would want to play the game is beyond me!

Mind you it is better to keep the thugs and bullies on the pitch rather than on the street.

TBH I always found the rugby players to be much better behaved than football players.
Having suffered Man Utd "fans" on the train to the ferry once, I started keeping an eye on fixtures in Manchester and Liverpool and avoiding travelling on those dates. However, my worst experiences of "fans" have been in the rugby seasons - the Australian rugby "fans" should all be transported to, er, Australia. Conversely, there was a bunch of fans on a few years ago who were only obvious because of their communal attire, which I didn't recognise ( it was an away strip ). Intrigued, I asked them who they were, as I didn't recognise the shirt sponsor, Chaucer - it turned out they were Wolves fans, so you just never know - I had even considered that they could be literary enthusiasts.

Oddly enough you don't find him on this list but at companies house he is registered. The rugby club website is not very transparent - but if you go to companieshouse.gov.uk and check under Stafford Rugby Club you will see Adam Hill as a director. He is also Head of leisure at the council. The same council that supports the rugby development but objects to the Hockey Club.

Tried to put direct link in to the coreect page on companies house but failed.

Well done. :bravo:

Interesting - Mr Hill was appointed as a director on the First of May last year - https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/07268398/officers

Didn't know council worthies were allowed to have two jobs, especially with a conflict of interest. He's also a Stafford Rural Homes director, the people who voted for themselves to be paid for charity work.
Wow, with all these revelations i bet a crusading local paper staffed by eagle eyed hacks who are never afraid to expose corruption and dodgy dealings, will be on the case right away........quite soon.......in due course......lets schedule a meeting......

When is the Rugby club planning application going to be decided? And the Hockey one too for that matter? It would be interesting to go along and see what is said. If all the people who turned up for the protest march came to hear the decision they'd need a bigger room I'd expect.
