...an accident at the roundabout between Beaconside and Weston Road on Tuesday night? Apparently there was some problems, emergency services etc. just wondered what happened. Hope no one got hurt, its right where the students all cross down to Western Road and there is no crossing on the Beaconside Road side of the roundabout.

Some kid got knocked off his Vespa and ate pavement...

He looked alive as I rode past on my (mountain) bike but i imagine he'll have a nice facial scar which is a bit rubbish!

From the marks on his face, I would think not but by the time I passed paramedics were on the scene putting a neck brace on so helmet was off <snigger>

I wondered why the town was gridlocked on Tuesday.
I dread the day my lad hits 16 and wants a bike, but I can't deny him one because I had bikes when i was younger. I also had plenty of scrapes that come with them so it is a worry.
Not always the bikers fault either. Most of the time it's cars just not looking hard enough to see them or being frustrated at being stuck behind them at 30 (downhill) or 20 (uphill)

Hope the geezer is ok anyways

I know that feeling.

Cycling to the tech park and back every day I am constantly coming close to being knocked off because drivers just don't expect to see a cyclist. When they do, there is a "get past at all costs mentality" squeezing through the tightest gaps... they are ok though, with their airbags and seatbelts :D

Had fun last night getting home, A500 and A34 as far as Stone were damn busy. Some very nice drivers also made a point of pulling into the white line so I couldn't go through the jam on my motorbike, ta guys. Funnily enough, mostly BMW drivers.

Well, thats typical of BMW drivers. Did you really expect any different behavior?

Bah, couldn't she have waited. She may be in a distressed state, but it took me an hour to get home! :grr:

(I am of course kidding, and hope she's OK, the traffic disrupting tart)

EDIT: From the second link:
Staffordshire Police have re-opened the M6 after closing the motorway because a woman was in distress on the wrong side of a bridge.
So if she'd been in distress on the right side of the bridge, I'd have got home quicker?

Hopefully the crisis team will be able to help her out. Can't be good if you are trying to jump of a motorway bridge :(

What they needed was one of those massive sheet/tarpaulin (sp?) and a load of people holding it under her, then get the autorities to just start moving towards her. If she bottles, then you can take her to safety, and if she jumps catch her in the sheet. I know its not that simple, but i reckon with some practive and maybe 3 or sheets covering the area under than section of the bridge it would work.

Horrendous if it didn't though :/

Haha yeah I see what you mean!

I'm sure given time I will redeem myself and having taken on board bobby's advice of calming down I shall be taking valium before each point of view based posting ;)

I really resent that, not your comment because it's bang on, but the was BMW drivers act like nobs and give the car this stigma. I'm a massive fan of BMWs (unfortunately I have never owned one, but I will one day, even if its a 30 year old one), I love everything about them and everything the brand stands for. Its a shame that the majority of drivers mess that up :(

I wonder if this stigma is UK based or is a global feeling. I hope not. I can assure you though what when I (eventually) get a BMW I shall be making full use of the indicators!

Apparently so, located just out of sight behind the steering wheel. Typically the average BMW driver has vision based on 'self' and as such looking behind the wheel to locate the lever is not part of their pre-programmed persona.
