Cycled out there today for Pie Week*. Excellent nosh - the pies are not for the faint-hearted. The steak pie was basically a whole joint cut into bits and formed into Desperate Dan pie. The chicken pie was essentially a chicken with some pastry on. And the chips are nice, too.

There were two teenage Polish ninjas patrolling the premises - there was no disorder.

*Also on at the Swan for the less athletic. http://www.staffordforum.com/xf/index.php?threads/the-swan-stafford.8088/page-9#post-180940

Thanks for the feedback, I'm so glad you spotted our students on exchange from Poland, always nice to support education establishments & youngsters, just imagine what would have happened if you'd have complained!

They did have the sort of air that they might have, if they had been appearing in an episode of the (real) Avengers. There certainly was going to be no trouble. I would not have pulled a gun on either of them - and certainly not acting as a pair..

And the log-burner is impressive - I had to move, but I had ridden a bike there..

Are those LED floodlights in the car-park?

Saturday afternoon spent at D&D, all four of us (my mom included!) had a great meal, first time two of our (small yet perfectly formed) party had been to the D&D and they loved it.

The attention to detail, food and staff were (as always) great!

Had my Gentleman's Afternoon Tea!

I nearly had to be rolled out after finishing*, the amount** is something to behold.

Well done for every single person involved in making every visit to this place, a delight.

*I did have to take the Yorkie bar and peanuts home though!
**only complaint is the amount, almost too much for a person like myself who doesn't like to leave a crumb on his plate, but heck I think they can take that 'complaint' on the chin.

My first visit here was last week for a works Christmas lunch. The place was busy as you would expect for the time of year, but the service and food we had was fantastic. The Christmas fayre menu was good value at £20 for three courses. The gravlax starter was delicious with a lovely tasting, thick piece of salmon. The turkey main was nice with just enough veg and meat, all cooked nicely. The cheese board desert was fantastic, I just about finished it which is unknown for me, I was really surprised it was such a good size and as expected, good quality and tasty.

I will definitely be back, so if anyone from the D&D reads this, thank you, well done and please don't change anything for next year!!!!

Ate here again last night. Great service, lovely, tasty, well cooked food. Could have done with a bit more on the plates though.

If you haven't already, next time you're in (pre-book though) go for the gentleman's afternoon tea.

That'll fill your boots, Trump!

I'm going to try their breakfast soon enough, perhaps this Sunday.

Full English.

Long live the D&D!

I was looking forward to it, got up early (for a Sunday!), got myself ready to get there for 9:30am, got there for 9:30am, at which point i was turned away.

To say i was a tad disappointed is a huge understatement.

There were empty tables, it didn't look that busy and the sandwich board outside (for passing trade) was advertising breakfasts!
...just saying.

I slumped off to Frankie & Benny's, which was very busy but they managed to get us in and to my surprise the breakfast wasn't all that bad, ok the staff aren't as attentive as the D&D lot, but yeah it was OK.

I refuse to book myself in for a breakfast, just a rule i introduced into my life, funnily enough, a rule i introduced at about 9:31am yesterday morning.

So alas, it looks like i shan't be trying the D&D breakfasts anytime soon.

Sorry that we disappointed - If there are ever day's that you might consider bending your rule, might I suggest Christmas Day, Valentine's and Mother's Day are all worthy of consideration.

I hope you do try and bend your rule and break your D&D boycott

I would never boycott D&D!

I'll try for a breakfast soon enough though, I'm sure.
