The Carer wants to go 'out' for a meal, but I just can't make myself go.For starters , it's helping places like sons store who's hours given out to staff depend on takings . They've been running on skeleton staff on reduced hours since re-opening . Last night was busy with new customers and a return of a few more regulars who hopefully will now get used to going back in and the staff will all get to keep their jobs.
We've been going for the meals in the Wildwood since last thursday , and felt safe doing so with only a few tables inside, well spaced out , lots of sanitizing taking place and some of the barstaff on have been wearing masks . Making the most of the half price meals while we can. With 2 starters and 2 mains for 7 quid last night , we are booked in again for next monday.
Felt safer inside there than the local shops!
Personally reading the previous few posts I can't help but think of the damage this virus is doing to society in general outside of the obvious health risks. My guess is if they found a vaccine tomorrow and were to eliminate the bloody thing, the scars of these past few months on what we might term as normal behaviour will be with us for years ... decades maybe for kids.
Half price in a Brunning and Price is about what I would normally pay for a meal elsewhere.Yep. The Oakley in Brewood is the same chain and also very good, possibly better for food.
IMO it's better food than those pubs you'd pay half the price in.Half price in a Brunning and Price is about what I would normally pay for a meal elsewhere.
Lucy,IMO it's better food than those pubs you'd pay half the price in.
Frankie and Benny's is not upmarketLucy,
But you don't know in which pubs I pay about half their price in.
Brunning and Price aren't bad for up market dining and they're more distinctive buildings with a far better drinks offering than TRG's Frankie and Benny's venues.
Joules have taken it over haven't they? Love The New Inn so I'm keen to give this a go.Swan at Forton now open and are participating in the Eat Out initiative.
Called in earlier to check whether food was on yet and scored a voucher for a free pint.
Yayyy!

Maybe something like this?So what would Pubeman recommend then?
The Swan at Whiston most often.Be interesting to know which ones they are.
I didn't suggest that Frankie and Benny's were upmarket.Frankie and Benny's is not upmarket
Oh thank you so very much for explaining your post but I note you still haven't seen fit to explain what Pubmen are.I didn't suggest that Frankie and Benny's were upmarket.
I commented that "Brunning and Price aren't bad for up market dining" and added with "more distinctive buildings" and "a far better drinks offering" Brunning and Price are preferable to Frankie and Benny's which is another of TRG's brands
The Swan at Whiston most often.
In normal circumstances we use the Swan at least once a month and have never had a problem with the beer, the food or, except a slight delay couple of times, the service.Haven't been in the Swan for over three years. Will not go back again unless there is a change of ownership after the disgusting way we were treated in there.
I thought everyone understood Pubmen to mean men who used pubs - but use the Urban Dictionary's definition if you prefer.Oh thank you so very much for explaining your post but I note you still haven't seen fit to explain what Pubmen are.
Maybe the urban dictionary is correct...
