Examples of poor driving you have witnessed!

Muppet in an orangey car coming onto the roundabout from the Cinema decides very suddenly she doesn’t want to go up the Litchfield road and pulls out in front of me with no indication forcing me to slam the breaks on. The same woman who is now in the left hand lane past ASDA decides she doesn't want to go to town so pulls out on me again with no warning or pause to check the road was clear, this time I was up the side of her and she forced me into the ASDA pull in area which was thankfully clear, now in the middle lane entering the roundabout she decides to slam breaks on right in front of me and pull straight out in front of another unsuspecting driver who luckily was paying attention enough to stop with barely a couple of centimetres, that chap then beeps his horn and promptly received a vulgar gesture in return.

The drivers of Stafford seem to think that a 30mph speed limit no longer applies if the road is long, straight or surrounded by trees- and anyone trying to stick to the speed limit should be tailgated.

Silkmore Lane is 30mph. Fairway is 30mph. The A449 between Acton and and School Lane is 30mph. Common Lane is 30mph for most of its length. You might have decided those speed limits are stupid, but the law hasn't changed.

The Eccleshall road is often moving at a spped of +30mph, although the speed vans were there earlier, they may be issuing quite a few tickets.

I have been overtaken several times on Silkmore Lane whilst going at 30mph.

A449 after School Lane, the speed of a lot of cars is nothing short of criminal. The difference when a camera van is parked up is very very noticeable.

There is no excuse for driving faster than the limit around town.

I'd also add A513 through Walton to Milford Common to that list.

I would agree that the number of people who pile through red lights in Stafford is insane. I've not experienced it to the same extent in other places!! A few red light cameras certainly wouldn't go amiss...
I saw a great one a while back, I was following one of the (not so) covert silver ford s-max police cars and in front of it a flatbed type truck (small builder's type one) went through the red light on beaconside at the junction with the former 16MU site a good couple of seconds after it had turned red.

The s-max in front didn't even slow down - lights on - and pulled the truck over before he had even realised what was going on.

There's no excuse for going over the limit, I agree, but in some cases the limit does seem far too low.

Good for traffic and the environment I guess.

In addition to that, can I add Queensway? That's a 30 until after the new lights, then 40 and back down to 30. People are quite quick to tear-arse up there doing significantly higher speeds... I'm doing 30 until the next speed change, why do you feel the need to be an idiot? Meh, tis their licences at the end of the day. I've spent too much effort on getting mine to even consider being a plank.

Whilst I agree that manners are a thing of the past when it comes to driving, motorists on a main road travelling at normal speed should NOT stop to let other drivers onto the road from a side street. If the traffic is very slow moving then that is different matter but when it is travelling at normal speed, stopping on a main road to let someone is just plain dangerous.
I suppose I should attempt to defend my mother and myself here, because her comment that I originally quoted was actually aimed at slow traffic on busy roads, for example Wolverhampton Road going into town at about half 8 in the morning.... I guess the original statement could have been interpreted as slowing down on a main road which is clearly idiotic, but the point I was trying to get across is that Stafford people can be very rude in cars, and it seems the small minority of sensible ones with a head on their shoulders are gathered here!

Enjoying a drop of red.
Thanks to the midwife in the black 09 reg Audi A3 who drove into me whilst parallel parking. I'd have hated for you to apologise to me and break the rule that Audi drivers are arrogant, rude tw@s.

Just as well the only damage was to your car :D

I think I finally understand why so many people in Stafford ignore red traffic lights.
I was waiting at the traffic lights at North Walls and the Asda island at 7.30am with a police car next to me when the lights changed and a red astra continued on through the red light.
I was waiting for the blues to go on and the astra driver to be shown the error if his ways but guess what....... the police car carried on up the Weston road as if nothing had happened.
If this is the standard of traffic policing then why do we expect motorists to obey the rules.
Just drafted a nice letter to the police commissioner and will wait and see if he is worth his inflated salary.

Excellent multi-tasker driving behind me this morning in a black Corsa - texting and smoking at the same time.

Dropped my friend off at Stafford station earlier today. The forecourt was a total numpty driver fest. People just abandoning their car anywhere to drop off. The multi-storey is free for 20 mins, so not sure what is so difficult about using it. I went in there then had fun getting out. If you come out of the multi storey then you can legitimately exit the station the same way as you enter it. Except some tit in a Clio drove at me, started yelling abuse and that I couldn't drive out that way. Obviously he hadn't bothered opening his eyes to check his facts first... Negotiated around him and made my exit to escape the madness.

I've had the same there, when I've been in the first bay and just reversed a touch and then exited legitimately via the 'entrance'. Mr Knobhead was trying to cut the corner on the way in and was convinced that I 'was in his way'. The road markings didn't seem to be relevant to his case and the people hurtling down from the Eagle soon intimidated him out of the way.

The markings.

To be fair to people about the free 20 minutes in the multi-storey, it isn't glaringly obvious and it's probably reasonable to assume that you'll be ripped off.

Had a sweaty palm moment today, on the M6 en route to Rangers away game at Witton (Northwich).
Muppet on a motorbike thinking it was correct and clever to ride as close as possible to a car so it would move. We were in the middle lane doing a steady 70 and cars were overtaking us, as is the usual. This bike was eventually about 10 feet, if that, off the back of a Hyundai and I can only guess both were doing around 90mph. This made the driver, i would guess, weave left and right due to looking in mirrors rather than having to focus ahead. Proof that it's not always in front of you that can harm you.

Virgin Trains could do with making it more obvious - the forecourt by itself is arguably too small for how busy the station is.

Yep, people do not read the road markings. I've done the same from that first bay in the past, but so far not encountered any looneys in the process.

I suspect that making the possibility of the legitimate avoidance of charges obvious might not be at the top of their list of key tasks.

Looneys are widely available, you shouldn't have to wait too long.

Of course, if you had walked there or taken a bus, you wouldn't have contributed to the situation you complain about ;)

Very true... Though by using the car park, I didn't contribute to the motor vehicle mayhem in the drop off area itself.
Next time my friend may well be catching the train all the way home, seeing as he seems to think driving him 160 miles back from Yorkshire doesn't cost anything...

He won't be qualifying for your frequent traveller bonus scheme, then..?
