I just found out you cant say the F word on the forum!!

I wasn't saying it in a bad way, its was involved in the sentence ' Oh .... what have I done?'

Did anyone else know this?

What else cant you say?

I don't mind I just find it funny - it replaced it with 'feck'

Can I request 'fudge' ??

Fudge has more of an edge to it!

There has been some discussion in the past - http://www.staffordforum.com/xf/index.php?threads/use-of-language-on-the-forum.3415/ .

Sometimes it replaces 'feck' with 'love', which is a bit loved up.

One can only hope this word replacement scenario did not kick in on AndyST17's recent cat thread...

If you are aware of how the Forum's spell-changer works, it becomes a habit to reverse the changes as you read posts, to get back to the original wording. However, you can find yourself doing similar 'translations' outside the Forum and it can be startling to be confronted by apparently phrases like "Thomas the Tank Engine was very impressed by Emily's chuff"...

Also, the 'Search' does actually search for the original words, although they are still displayed in the Bowdlerised form.

I'm fed up with all these euphemisms and elisions!
Let's stop beating about the bush.
What we are talking about here is 'ladies front bottoms'.
There, I've said it, and I am not sorry!

While you make a valid point, the benefit of 'Reply' ing is that if you have asked a question of someone, for example, an 'alert' will appear to, well, alert them to it.

Some people won't read all the threads/posts posted on the forum so may miss your missive using the above method. Not the biggest of deals, to be sure, but something worth considering.

Only if they have selected the option to be alerted if they are quoted.

Isn't it rather they will unless they have selected not to? I can't remember now - not that it matters, i shall cease trying to be helpful forthwith. :)
