FENTON TOWN HALL

A few posts under my belt
A post by a friend on Facebook who is trying to save Fenton Hall and the War memorial, this can not be allowed to be distroyed out of respect for the brave men who died fighting for our country.

The MoJ are intent on selling the building as quickly as possible now, especially in this centenary year. The anecdotal feedback is that there hasn't actually been much interest because of the negative publicity regarding the WW1 memorial, in particular. Nationally, many people are talking about the town hall as being a potential banana skin to the success of the £50m WW1 commemorative events.

It is time to prepare the town hall for the auction which will surely come; to put developers off wanting to buy it

Fenton Town Hall is a highly visible, national issue which has been giving Central and Local government a big headache for 18 months now. But we need to replicate this national impression here in the town and city. Coming to the square prospective developers need to be met with a sea of tributes and messages of defiance round the town hall to leave them in no doubt what people in Fenton feel about a building and memorial being stolen from them.

If you care about heritage in Stoke-on-Trent, we request you attend on Saturday March 22nd 12.30pm - 2.00pm and bring a small tribute to leave at the foot of the town hall.
