yeah, i installed it on my G4 emac last night, and it's loads quicker than safari! just upgraded my work PC to 3.5, and so far i can't say i've noticed any difference.. not a bad thing, though..

hopefully they've got rid of that weird bug where firefox would periodically disappear from the taskbar, and the only way to get it back is alt-tab until you find it!

This has only happened to me a couple of times, so infrequently in fact I haven't even googled it, but I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this. Also, have you ever had any issues with silverlight and firefox? I have had a couple of crashes, however between Firefox and Win 7 it recovers the session 100% of the time :)

I'm trying to develop an ASP driven application using silverlight for my employer at the moment so am using it a fair bit, but yes, apart from the Hard Rock Cafe website (which incidentally makes great use of silverlight driven deepzoom) I'm fairly sure I haven't come across it in browsing.

hmm, i had firefox configured to automatically prompt me clear "private data" upon closing, but it seems 3.5 can't do this.. you can set it to clear it automatically, but it won't prompt you..

that one's just a minor annoyance, but a real pain in the arse is that there doesn't seem to be a way to stop firefox re-opening all your tabs following a crash.. so if it crashes as a result of a dodgy site/plug-in/etc. it re-launches firefox and tries to open the offending page again!

session manager

Incidentally I have gone back to 3.1 on FF. 3.5 doesn't support allot of my plugins and I NEED THEM DAMN IT

session manager
Session Manager saves and restores the state of all windows - either when you want it or automatically at startup and after crashes. Additionally it offers you to reopen (accidentally) closed windows and tabs.
i want it to do exactly the opposite - i.e. if firefox crashes, i don't want any of my tabs to re-open, i want a fresh firefox instance to launch with just my home page.. the previous version gave you the choice..

Re-read your post and thought again. Worth a go:

Session manager does give you the choice to restart previous session or not. If you choose no it opens only you default page. It could work as way to bypass FF3's built in jobber.

I am not sure about this though you'll have to suck it and see (said the Vicar to the Actress)

firefox is awesome just the book of mozilla thats built in to each one and the fact you can overclock mozilla firefox by the use of the about:config edits helps load pages by requesting more info at a time lol

Not loving 3.5 at all, in fact because I'm too lazy to roll back I have been using IE for ages. And its great :D

The initial shizzle with IE8 being more secure than your grans undercrackers is no longer a problem, they have realised the user doesn't want to answer a 36 page survey for EVERY page of EVERY website.

Would you like to display CSS? No, i'd like all of the information in a long list so i can sit here for hours and decipher it. FFS

firefox will display css older versions do need a plug in i think but i have coded some sites in css and firefox has displayed them fine unless it is just down to how i have coded them but i only make a website if it works the same for all browsers

nah i was talking about IE8s insatiable list of questions before loading every page. its sorted now though.

lol oh ok you find internet explorer is ok for certain things but it is the most insecure yet people seem to think wow my pc came with an internet browser i will use this before even looking at the other options available however that does cover those new to computers but there is so many other options including netscape lol

aye, i'm probably what you would refer to as an advanced user so am no stranger to the alternatives. Have never really seen what all the fuss is about with M$, I have used it for years for intensive applications, supported windows users, and also servers and have had little to no touble at all. User problems, 9 times out of 10 are just that - user problems. Simple training and away you go.

Firefox is alright although I don't value it more than IE at all unless you start adding plugins.

All I do know is that safari is consistently sh*t.
