Flooding.

Enjoying a drop of red.
Below is the official Gov.uk map that, if zoomed in one more level, claims to provide accurate flooding information for our area.

Can anyone see why I might be a bit sceptical about that claim?

I see that Riverway is attempting to live up to its name.

The drains seem to have been very carefully sealed, and in a sustainable manner, using renewable material created by the decomposition of leaves from the adjacent trees.

Towards Lichfield Road was clear but towards Weston Road was flooded half an hour ago.
Too dark for a photo opportunity now though.

It was the other way round when I went through - a bit of a flood north of the river, but it required some care to get past the Polish Club entrance.

Anyone know where I can get sandbags from I'm on Sandon Rd & garage/ carpeted Gym is flooded. Been here 23 years and it's the first time it's happened. I'm further up from the lake by the garage so well away from the usual places that flood. Thanks

They don't seem hugely confident in the effectiveness of sandbags.

And - "Sandbags will not be issued directly to the general public"

Some of the regularly affected buildings have these drop-in floodgate fitments. As seen here. These can be much more effective than sandbags, plus being much easier to apply and to store when not in use. They do rely on the brickwork not allowing a great deal of by-pass through the joints (and airbricks, if any).

Looking at that Street View picture reminds me that you also need to consider other potential leak paths, such as pipework and cable entry points.
