I'd like to donate food regularly to help someone genuinely struggling but can't find anywhere suitable. By suitable I mean somewhere that doesnt allow people who have made benefit scrounging a lifestyle choice to receive donations. Before anyone jumps in, I was directly told by a food bank volunteer that there are quite a few people who use one food bank in town that almost thrive on the dependence culture. I can't get on board with this. If you are able bodied and fit to work rather than go the food bank get a bloody job!! If I'm going to spend money I've worked hard to earn on other less fortunate people I'm not prepared to donate to scroungers. I'd like to donate to an organisation that is supporting those who are doing everything they can to help themselves but have just found themselves in tough times. People who work but just can't earn enough to support their families, that sort of thing. I'd particularly like to help working single Mums and Dads who have chosen to work rather than make benefits a lifestyle choice or the womens refuge. I'd also prefer not to donate via any religious organisation. Anyone know of anywhere please?
I'm aware this is a post that not all will agree with or relate too, its my personal choice only, so save the abuse! If you disagree with my sentiment then feel free to donate food to one of the existing food banks rather than criticise me!
