That seems to be the message that our elected councillors are putting across. Shame on them.Crime pays in Stafford.

Is there a way of getting a list of those that supported this, because I want to make damn sure I don't vote for one of them in May.
Thanks for the clarificationThe webcast is available here but the nomination was made by Independent Leader Barry Stamp and seconded by Chris Baron:

For clarity:
It should be noted that the Offices of both Mayor and Deputy Mayor will not be voted on until the Annual Meeting of the Council after the Elections on May 7th 2015.
The nominations are only intentions not ratified or agreed decisions. Those nominations are distributed based on the proportionate membership of the Council, as are seats on scrutiny and regulatory committees.
This means if the independent group fails to be re-elected, their 'nominations' will be re-distributed through the groups that have been elected to the Council. It has happened a number of times to my knowledge when the Mayor of Stafford Borough has been nominated before the election and gone on to fail to be re-elecred, and so a new candidate from the council's membership is chosen.
So to summarise there was not a vote at the meeting on who the Council accepts. It won't happen until after the Election.
I see no reason why anybody who cares about our town and borough could think it apropriate that a convicted crook could represent Stafford in any kind of position, ceremonial or in the chamber. Also, the role of Mayor (not the real one, obvs) is purely ceremonial. Would it not be the case that this would effectively nobble him for a year? Assuming he's re-elected of course.
It is my understanding that this is a position that is generally rather reluctantly taken up, not the honour it would appear to be - ameliorated though it is by lots of dinners and cake.
I may well be wrong (not the first time etc) but is it possible to read this as an attempt to bung him out of the chamber for a year?
I think it quite apt...I see no reason why anybody who cares about our town and borough could think it apropriate that a convicted crook could represent Stafford in any kind of position,
Balls need to have eyes kept on them. What's happening???
