I notice the Old Library is up for Sale again - Assuming the All you cat eat restaurant plans have fallen though. I notice the same people who run The Doxey Hub are looking for support to turn it into a community asset

Wasn't there talk of moving the library from the Shire Hall recently - having spent all that money moving it? Wonder if this building would be suitable..............oh wait.

Used to love the place as a kid. Laughable as a county town with a the local shoe and boot industry we have no museum

Looks like it could use a bit of work, but it should be kept as a Stafford treasure, as part of our heritage. The fact that the council are moving the library again to try and justify their white elephant scaffold place when this building stands empty is shameful, it really really is

I know it was built as a library but I don't think it's right for one now judging by the pictures. I'm not sure it's right for one now (I also didn't think the current library is all that good and I'm not sure it's proposed new home is either - but then I hardly ever use the library so I'm not one to talk.

I do think an arts center / performance space etc is a really good idea. and I'll be doing what i can to support them - I hope other on the forum will too.

I'm lucky enough to be somewhat involved in this project, and also was very privileged to be able to take a tour of it yesterday. It really is a lovely space but it is going to need a LOT of TLC to repair the damage from being left to stand empty and unheated for so many years. I hope that the residents of Stafford get behind keeping this building as a public place.

According to the Newsletter article it was closed in 1999 and unfortunately the accounts don't go back to anywhere near that date. Thanks though.

But it was used as council offices until it was sold in 2011 surely?
