Oh ffs :( I hope my house sells before this happens, it's been empty for months and I'm about to start paying CT on it again - they can **** off with taking my discount off me :(

I don't see why I should be paying CT at all (and they did give me several months of zero CT due to the circumstances surrounding the ownership of the property falling to my brother and I) on an empty property but as of December we have to start paying it again. We would get a discount equal to 50% at the moment, which on the seafront in weymouth is a pretty hefty discount. Paying full whack would be an insult tbh. In fact I'd actually store up half of my rubbish and drive it down there every 3 months to dump in Dorset so I'm getting my money's worth.

Surely you can understand why they are doing it though? The police still need to come if there is a break in, the fire brigade if there is a fire, the streets still need lighting etc. If you can afford 2 homes, you can afford two lots of council tax. I know your situation is an odd one, but they do still give you a grace period.

Nowt to stop you going down and breaking a few street lights though, get your moneys worth ;)

Nah, I'll set fire to the hospital, many birds, one stone :D

Edit: In all seriousness, yes, you're absolutely right and I do agree it's necessary. Although I was happy with the reduced rate and considered it a little on the high side, if not fair. If they were to remove that discount though I'd be paying considerably more for a house I don't live in than the one I do live in purely based on location (my current house is larger).

On a side note tek I'm all moved into the new gaff, it's only a couple of streets away from you, you should pop in sometime :D
