Rangers will take time over decision

Stafford chairman Mike Hughes today insisted Rangers will bide their time in the search for the right man.

The Marston Road chief is keen not to rush into an appointment after Matt Elliott’s shock resignation…

Coments from LAST NIGHTS MEET THE FAN'S NIGHT AT MARSTON ROAD, with Management team, commercial team, some players and the Board!

"All the appointments, particularly Greg & Doz (Manager & his dep'), seem exactly what we've been lacking and all of them seem to have the knowledge & enthusiasm to drive the club forward. Everyone was honest and answered all questions that were put to them (including a couple of strange ones/digs!).
Was good to hear there will be more transparency from the board. Greg & Doz were superb, both during the event, and chatting to people afterwards. I really think the two will be superb for the club, and I just hope that (like a lot of people said last night) that we the fans give them time. I honestly believe its not a case of IF they get it right but WHEN and its up to us to realise it wont be an overnight fix. Like Rik has already posted, the line of the night came from Greg talking about players not playing sundays when he said "we might not be able to stop them playing Sundays, but we can stop them playing Saturdays"!
Overall, a really positive night and you could sense everyone that was there was buzzing with optimism.
The last few years have been grim and the board have more than played their part, however, as greg mentioned, this season everyone starts with a clean slate and I personally go along with that. The board have acted on their weaknesses and if the new appointments are half as impressive as they came across last night, then we will be laughing.

Again, hats off to the board , the proof will be in the pudding but for the first time for as long as I can remember, I am actually looking forward to the season ahead.

Final point, if we're still looking for a chairman, I'd personally give it to Stuart Maun - extremely impressive guy with the background to back up the talk."

All taken from the 'Boro online forum. I was there, and as I concure with everything written, I didn't see the point in saying it all again! 'Stuart' is on the 4 person Commercial team, used to work at the Moat House, and for his sin's, is a season ticket holder, with 25years of watching the Black & Whites!

A good night with loads off info' highlight of which was the revelation, that due to Rushden beening ousted from the Blue Square Piramid of League's, 'Boro might not go down at all! But this is very unlikely to happen!

Will be really interesting to see how the new manager shapes up - apparently planning on bringing half of his Newcastle Town squad with him, which wouldn't be a bad thing as they were in contention for promotion this season.

This isn't the first time Rangers have been down here and may not be the last - you never know, Mr Clowes might turn out to be another Phil Robinson - miracle worker on a shoestring.

The proof of the pudding! But I am looking forward to the new season with much more optimism than I mustered last year! :stafford:
