Wetherspoons then?
Yay, Stafford could become the new Rugeley.I want six weatherspoons.
The old cinema + the older cinema*
The old library + the older library
The old post office
The old branch of poundstretcher*
*Some branches may already be trading.
Has it been there long? Perhaps that was what several people shouted at me last time I was down in that area? I couldn't quite make it out from the accent.I visited Margate yesterday, as you do, and they'd built an incredible indoor market street in a building similar to the Carnigie Library - which I think would work for the Shire hall too - https://www.theoldkentmarket.com/
Didn't seem to be, they were still building units upstairs.Has it been there long? Perhaps that was what several people shouted at me last time I was down in that area? I couldn't quite make it out from the accent.
Why not, they probably have...Express and Star front page report says one suggested use is an art gallery.
You really couldn’t make it up.

I would suggest that the honourable member is somewhat disappointed that public money has been handed to "experts" who have suggested that an art gallery, closed for lack of funds, might be reopened as an art gallery,Not sure what you are getting at, what is wrong with that

Just a guess...
I was trying to make it sound technical.Yep, but it wasn't closed for lack of funds. It was closed because the man who made the decision, doesn't understand what the arts are about so therefore thinks no one needs them.
You really don't get what I meant do you?The shirehall was closed because it was not viable as it is was as a MIXED venue:
Part gallery
Part shop
Part library
Part sensory
Part cafe
Part Wolverhampton uni.
Confusing mixed models are hard to work. With customers/ visitors to the venue almost halved the site was no longer viable for a council and could not ( and should not) be propped up by public funds.
So who is to say that a private entity could not make a success for an outright gallery and arts venue.
Why should that not be on the table? In fact it is a great option and would be outright dumb to exclude anything that could get the shirehall back up and use.
