Just provisionally booked a cottage in Anstruther and a cottage in Reedham for the Superbikes at Knockhill and Snetterton next year.

Only problem is they're only two weeks apart, in late June and early July, which is a little annoying.

Also planning a few nights in Holland for the Assen round in September.

Think the best pint I've ever had was in Southwold. Someone (not me!) thought it would be a good idea for the local CAMRA branches to do a 3 day coach trip visiting all of the breweries in the Eastern Counties. Second night was a disaster, a meal had been arranged at the Tolly Cobbold Brewery Tap which was well known for its good food and everyone was looking forward to it. However without telling anyone the local CAMRA branch had cancelled the meal so they could take people around the local pubs, no food arranged or available at all. Breakfast the following morning made up for it. Adnams Mild in the Directors' Sampling Room at the brewery. Perfect condition. Wonderful.

So far I have only been in a couple of pubs but there is still time. Yesterday it was a walk from the campsite along the beach to the pier and back via The Red Lion.

We rented a cottage down the street opposite the Red Lion so used that one the most.

The Lord Nelson was good as was the Bell inn at Walberswick via the ferry.

Also if you fancy a walk the Harbour inn does nice food and beers (Adnams obviously). Out via Ferry Road and then back via York Road makes a good walk.

Enjoy.

All packed ready for tomorrow, ULEZ paid in advance for both tomorrow and day when we return, never been so organised.
Have a great time @Trumpet.

Just checked our car for the emission charges in places reading your post , luckily exempt everywhere (except for Central London I assume? Do you get a bill if you don't realise you've entered a chargeable area in London, or just an automatic fine?)

Got a few nights booked in The Belgrave Sands Hotel , Torquay that we stayed in last time . Might be our last holiday for a while if hubby ends up back in hospital when we get back , so I've just extended it an extra day 🙂. Got to change rooms for the extra day , but same type of super-duper big front sea view room so I'm happy with that. Looks like weather is going to be sh1te , but it's got a pool , gym and a bar so that'll do me 😊

I'm most unorganised this time and most unlike me! Usually mostly packed up ages before , but left it until the last minute in case we couldn't go . So with only a day to go ,apart from a full tank of petrol , brollies and car snow shovel in the boot , it's only our medications put up and packed so far this time. (Those took me 3 hours putting them all in separate pots & labelling whilst doing a weeks worth at home as well, takes some concentration now for hubbys various concoctions of the 23 pills several times a day . ).

There were no such worries when there was a booth for paying on entering the tunnel.
It's not really a worry.

I've forgotten to pay about 3 or 4 times using the Dartford crossing with the same car and each time they just send the reminder to pay.

I've set up an account that automatically deducts the payment when you cross now which is far less hassle.

It's Thameslink I've used the last two years for the Sussex coast.
( And the Northern Line last week for Borough )

Unfortunately Thameslink don't go to Brands Hatch and getting there by train is a pain.

I went by train a few years ago after I broke my shoulder and it took ages and involved a £20 taxi fare each way to get from the station to the circuit, never again.

Just had to change the cottage in Anstruther to a 4 bedroom one in Arbroath due to 5 of us now going to the Superbikes.

It's a little further to drive to Knockhill but it's somewhere new to explore, not to mention fresh smokies for breakfast.
