Hough retail park to be demolished?

I've heard this rumour too but it doesn't seem likely / can't find any proof of it.

It seems the idea of Argos closing has led to some rumours being expanded.

Argos is closing because the lease is up, the same as the other leases on the other stores.

I've also heard seperatly that the landlord has sold the land for housing. And I know that one of the other stores have had people in regarding the site closure.

Hopefully it's all gossip.

With taco bell opening there soon it seems unlikely
Taco bell isn't on the part that's 'possibly' earmarked for change.

If the lot is going , I can't see how having less choice to shop , and more housing is good for this town. I can see why people drive and shop elsewhere.

As someone who lives on the crossings I don't know how I feel about this....I cannot imagine even more (added to the ones that are going to be built).... The local infrastructure just wouldn't hold up despite all the bullshit developers would spin on the subject.....

But that's precisely what people living nearby were saying when plans for 'The Crossings' were submitted !

I think it’s high time we all sold our third homes to help out

Just keep the one here and the one abroad

And the yacht, of course

And the London flat ,that goes without saying

I hope not, B&Q is still quite useful and that’s the only decent Home Bargains. Can’t imagine where they’d be able to move to

It's about 5 years since I used the Hough retail parks and I'm not a Taco Bell eater, but would the traffic generated from houses be worse than the retail park generates? As a Northender its the traffic issues that deter me from shopping at that end of town at all and it's slightly too far to walk with shopping so I avoid totally. So long as the retail units relocate in vacant properties already existing then this is one place where more houses wouldn't be an issue really. Its not like we are ever going to get any additional sports facilities or green space so it might as well be houses!

I would be gutted if the Hough was to go, it's an incredibly useful set of shops directly across the road from my house - but equally I'd adapt if they do - as I'll have to with argos going.
