I'll put you in the picture. Last summer I broke my thigh-bone. I am an oldster - 75. Anyway, when it was time to be discharged from hospital the social care people said they didn't think it was safe for me to go back to my house alone so I was discharged to a care home for respite. It was only supposed to be for a few months and I'm still there. My social worker now wants me to think about an exit plan from the care home (which is in the south of the county - not Stafford - there wasn't anywhere in Stafford with a vacancy at the time).
The suggestion has been sell the house at auction but I don't own it outright and the person who owns it jointly (doesn't live there) doesn't want to sell - wants to get it put right. If it was up to me I'd go back to the house even if it is manky but Housing Standards from the council have said it has gone down since I've been away.
The only thing I can think of is see if I can find a temporary bedsit. I don't think I can approach a charity because while I have a house even if it is in manky condition I am not deemed to be homeless. I think I am probably going to be looking at the private sector. At present with a manky leg - I still need an aid while walking and probably will for the rest of my life now. So I'd be looking for something accessible and affordable maybe ground floor unless they have a lift. I know the Newsletter sometimes advertises accommodation - has anybody any idea where I might look. I have a feeling it is going to have to be in the private sector.
Has anybody got any ideas where I might look apart from the Newsletter though I will try the papers of course. I'm a pensioner and still have to pay the Council tax on my own place so I'm trying to look for somewhere that's not going to bankrupt me. I'd be grateful if anyone has any ideas.
