I know it's not Indian - but I wanted to give a mention to the Royal Bangkok Thai restaurant - my friend and I went and it was lovely.

As promised and updateable map of stafford's foody places.

You should now be able to register with Community Walk and add your own eateries/ pubs / shops / takeaways - I'll try and keep an eye on it as Admin.

Does the Curry Kuteer still have the same staff? And who can remember Stafford's two Greek restaurants?
Greek tavernas? Anemos, in Crabbery St, must have been one of them - always had a gorgeous aroma of coffee and oregano about the place. Once went to a brilliant dinner party there in the upstairs room. The other, whose name I cannot recall, was, on the Newport Rd, next to what would have been the Colosseum, now Zanzibar. Late 80s - is this correct?

?
You got ''em, Ponderer. What was Anemos is now McGreggors .... I can't remember the name of the one on The Newport Road either but I think you can get some very greasy late night food from there now.

Was it called the Acropolis, or some other Greek edifice? Dunno - went there once but obviously it didn't make a lasting impression!

There used to be an Indian take away called A1 Curry House by the four crosses where the Kebab place is now (I presume kebab place is still there). They did gorgeous curry's. When they moved they moved to Wolverhampton Rd as the Kebab King and they were the best Kebab place too. I don't know what they are doing now. Can't remember the guys name (the dad) either but they were a nice family. The sons took over as far as I can remember. Does anyone know what they are doing now?

The A-CRAP-olis. Takes me back to the old student nights and 'dinning' out there after the Collissium on chips in pitta bread and even battered sausages befoe I was veggie - then the long dark walk home along the river to Riverway before the was a proper path, just a muddy track and one street light about halfway down. Always seemed to have a 9am lecture the next day too.

OK, so I'm a bit late with this thread.

Have you tried the place "Jom Jom Kitchen" in Littleworth? It's not a restaurant,
only a takeaway. but I've found it to be pretty good. I use it all the time now as
it's a lot closer than my previous fave, Rose of Kashmir.

Michael.

I heard a rumour that EHO closed this place down and it re-opened, don't know how true it is. The chinese just down the road is okay at the end of Tixall rd opposite the Metropolitan bar.

The jom jom aint that bad, but I've had better. Helps that their back door opens onto my mates back garden - we get cheap curries delivered straight to our kitchen sometimes :D

Yes, I'm sure I mentioned this a while back although can't find it.

He's outgrown where he is now and will be moving to the old Chill Bar.

I've only been in there once, but it looks like it's going to be massive! But he says he still isn't going to be licensed though.

Malabar is the nuts. Out of interest, how did this motley crew of forumites identify themselves to you, or you to them?

I recognised Rich from a forum picture and introduced myself.

I'll not go into details as a similar situation cost George Micheal his career!!

I went out with the footy team to Abdul's last week and the biryani was spot on! Good service too from the waiters who managed to put up with a group of very hammered blokes and shame us with their football knowledge!

Tried to go to Stafford Balti last week, but it was full. Abdul sent us up to Ruby Fusion instead, where they had a free bottle of wine waiting for us! Food was good, cost about £15 per head for starter, main and rice/nan. Will def go again, especially as its right near my house :)

We went to Abdul's not that long ago - Food was lovely but it took a hour to arrive. They seemed to put priority one take away orders so we might try that in future.
