still, i just don't believe that anyone can actually make use of a £62/mo package :lorks:
I pay £61 a month to Sky.

That's for all the channels, 2 Sky+ boxes on multiroom.

I would have gotten rid of it a LONG time ago if it weren't part payment of my rent :(

There is no way on earth I watch more than 4 hours of TV a week - and even when I do, it's always BBC3 for Family Guy.

Sky - Ripping you off since the '80s.

I was challenged ( no other word for it ) by one of the Sky boys in the Guildhall once who laughed when I told him that I didn't have a telly. So I challenged him back - 'OK. Show me something worth watching on any channel available through Sky at this moment!' He failed..
I had an encounter with a Sky rep in the square a couple of years ago, when I told him I was happy with the five channels I've already got he laughed in my face and said "see you in five years time then".
They don't really endear themselves to the public do they?

Edit : I quite enjoy the Freeview I've got now though.

in fairness, it's not sky ripping you off, it's whoever is enforcing your rent! sky's minimum package, as gk said, is about £18/mo which is more than fair for the latest House, Caprica, Simpsons, Modern Family, The Middle, South Park, etc. imo!

I was asked recently if I was interested in Sky HD, I told him I had it, and it wasn't worth the money they try to charge. I went on to explain that if it wasn't free I'd have cancelled it a long time ago, but he seemed to want rid of me rather quickly.

Never seen the appeal of sky myself, always got something better to do that sit around watching telly!

Usually put stuff on in the background (or another space on the mac :D ) but i'm not paying to half watch programs :P

That's on top of the £12.00 odd a month you're already paying.
for what? if you mean a tv licence, then that's unrelated.. ultrasbm was saying sky was a ripoff, i was arguing that it wasn't imo as you get a lot of exclusive programming for less than £20.. the tv licence is a mandatory tax and unrelated to whether sky is value for money or not..

regardless, none of the programmes i listed are on BBC/terrestrial tv :P

Funilly enough I got home tonight to find a leaflet from sky on my door mat... "come back to sky and get any package 1/2 price for 12 months..."

I now have 3 mixes, all movies and all sports packs for £25 a month. Happy with that.

Hmm I may just cancel my subscription and see what Sly will offer me then :P

Worth doing... everyone told me... cancel Sky, wait a month or three and they will offer you 12 months half price... and they did.

When I called up to cancel in the first place they offered me 6 months half price... glad I held out.

Oh forgot to mention I also got a £50 M&S voucher for going back too :D

Always worth checking hotukdeals in late November, in case you find something like this again. I will be :D

EDIT: Doesn't say in that thread, but I did indeed get sky HD installed without issue.

I had a letter from the TV licence people in July stating that 'a licence is not required at this address'.

I had another letter from them in August stating 'we wrote to you recently to find out if you still don't need a TV licence and have not received a reply'.

I just thought you might like to know how they are spending some of your licence money....
