*if I had to raise & slaughter my own meat I would be a strict vegetarian.
I've often been compared to a five year old.Eldest minime, aged 5 (23 yrs ago) at Amerton farm.... 'I love baby lambs, I love them for Sunday dinner with mint sauce!'
He got a round of applause from the adults present.

Same, I'm fine eating prepackaged nondescript supermarket meat, but if it came to raising my own, I'd have an awfull lot of pets, there's no way I could kill or eat something I had nurtured & cared for. We're having vegatable , lentil and pearl barley stew tomorrow. Cancelled my meat off tomorrows Tesco Click & Collect order after watching the programme.
I'd make a useless farmer as I'd end up with hundreds of pet cows, lambs, pigs chickens ..
An almost lifelong vegetarian friend of mine thought the same til she moved to a remote coastal town in Australia, now she raises and eats her own.Same, I'm fine eating prepackaged nondescript supermarket meat, but if it came to raising my own, I'd have an awfull lot of pets, there's no way I could kill or eat something I had nurtured & cared for.
You could foster dogs if you didn't want to be tied down...We've just been watching a program about scottish farmers, with some adorable animals. If I was younger I'd think about doing something with animals (but would have to be something along the lines of making a living but keeping them alive though, I'd treat them all as pets)
In the mean time , still trying to talk hubby imto going to the dog rescue centre and getting an additional member of the family (or two) . ....
I've suggested that as well , but hubby just won't have it . He knows that once a foster dog comes into the house it would be here for good .You could foster dogs if you didn't want to be tied down...
I couldn't possibly eat my pet bean Brian.
