Lake Sandon didn't look too deep this afternoon but I wasn't going to risk it.
A diversion via Peel Terrace, Common Road and Astonfields Road took half an hour but I was in no hurry.

Mad to think I'm higher north than Edinburgh yet its been over 30c here yet again, WTF is wrong with British weather? Although when it does rain its hard, but no flooding.

I got sunburnt in the Arctic Circle 3 weeks ago. It's how the gulf stream lies isn't it?

Was in Edinburgh Sunday to Tuesday, was over 20c towards the end, with sun & very little rain, seems parts of England was suffering a monsoon! Train back was a nightmare due to cancellations due to flooding!

Access to the beach area is currently denied by blokes, vans and barriers right across the road, although the tide doesn't seem particularly high.

The tide was out yesterday after a visit to the tip. Current conditions indicate that the tide is indeed high.

Just about 'passable with care down the middle'..?

Vans and blokes have gone. Maybe they were just delivering the fencing?

A For Sale sign emerging from floodwater is not a great sales tactic.

The barriers are still there, but it's easily passable and a few people are sneaking through the 'closure'.

That little bit of drizzle tonight has resulted in water right across the road already.

Still passable, so far.

Pictures on Facebook of the current level of the lake suggest that oil deliveries to the Shell garage might be possible directly from the supertanker at the moment.

Flooding in Stafford will only get worse with all the new houses that are going to be built. They're setting a target of 782 new homes.

I found this by looking down the alphabetical list to R for 'river'...

Bigger new lake up in Cheshire, Bridgewater Canal has breached at Little Bollington. Lake Sandon is going to have to grow a bit to match it.
