. I'll take a ride up there next week and see if there's anything still there, although based on those articles I won't get my hopes up! Thank you!
Curiosity got the better of me so i went to check it out. The jumps are still there, along with a large sign saying that it was maintained by 'Staff Trail Club'* and that only members were permitted to use the trail. The jumps looked well maintained and were under tarps so it must still be a going concern, despite not being able to find anything about it online. There was a contact telephone number for enquiries but i didn't have anything to write with, or on, so you might have to make the journey yourself if you want more details.

There was an e-mail address - stafftrailclub@googlemail (sic) .com - which seems unlikely to work, there was no indication of how long this state of affairs had been in operation.

* it may have been Trails?

Thank you! I think I've found something, does this look like the place:

If so, searching around the web for "stafftrails" I think I've located a person involved with the operation (http://instagram.com/tom__aston) and his phone number is mentioned as 07961702310 which could be the number you saw listed.

That's it - the name Petrek was on the sign but as it was the name of the sign-maker i didn't think it relevant. The phone number began 079 but i knew i wouldn't remember the whole thing so didn't bother trying. :)

There's a video on that instagram link from Sept '14.

Here's some interesting serendipity. A few months ago I posted a thread about the buildings opposite the apartment I live in being demolished, they eventually made a bunch of progress and now all that is left is the exterior walls of the building and a bunch of rubble. The demolition people haven't been on site all week and today a sign went up on the gate, I just went down to check it out and it's an auction sign! The land is in the perfect location for me and is very much suitable for what I want... unfortunately that's where the positives end, because it has planning permission for a number of apartments so I assume it's going to be priced in the mid-high £xxx, xxx range. Maybe the auction will fall through and I can rent it for a few months or something... I shall keep my ear to the ground!

Edit: here's a thought, what if the planning permission fell through? I'm hot-footing it to the council website.

Edit edit: my joy is short-lived, I found a listing for the property, £350,000 -- maybe not. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-32982732.html

Edit edit edit: I dispute the "ready to go" designation in that listing, given that it's still got the buildings shell!

That's a bit of an odd situation.

When the site in question had Truview on it earlier this year, it was for sale at £450,000

Someone bought it, paid for demolition and is marketing it at £350,000

Anyone know the story behind it?

AAH, ON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE SITE HAS AN AUCTION GUIDE PRICE OF £350K SO THEY ARE LOOKING FOR MORE, MAYBE A LOT MORE THAN £350K!!
