Have any of the opposition parties pledged to recind the ID requirement to vote or is it a case that all the tories rules will be embraced and continued no matter who wins ?

Got a right little jobsworth at our local poliing station.

Having dodged the various party bods sitting outside demanding peoples name and addresses , which they didn't need to know.......

Walked in with my card , already heading to polling station 2 as on the card.

Way suddenly blocked by an ' I'm a very important official' female.

" STOP! I need to see your card "

"Why?"

"I need to tell you where to go"

"I know where I'm going . To polling station 2 "

"I need to see your card to tell you where to go "

"I know where I'm going , no.2 the middle one "

Shows her my card to stop her blocking my way... checks with me if that is my address.

" You go to polling station 2 , the middle one over there"

Didn't even get any marketing information through my door this time. Slackers.
Our green party (who are big around here) have been driving us mad with constant daily ringing of the doorbell , about 4 pieces of literature a day for weeks pushed through . Personalised letters in what looks like hand written envelopes , which makes me panic wondering who is writing to us.
Yesterday a 'thank you ' card in personalised envelope , with colour photo of the candidate and his mother thanking us for our vote in advance .
Been woken up twice at 6am , once while on holiday , by the ring doorbell with the literature being pushed through!
Thought the greens were all about not wasting paper etc !

Just the one leaflet from conservatives yesterday. (Plus one for the police commissioner position , which I didn't bother reading . Then discovered at the polling station we had to vote for one of them as well )

Libdems been sending personalised envelopes with letters thanking for our vote in advance. Another lot scaring me coming through the door with "Hello Neighbour".

Not seen any for labour .

Mine was very relaxed , but it seemed very quiet 🤣, I didn't know you had special booths to go in. It was a free for all at my one.

That's because it's only for the Police Commissioner, a position that should never have been created.
The results should indicate a turnout too low to give a proper mandate.

don't mention the blinds
Rowley ward polling station at the new rugby club? Very pedestrian unfriendly. I wonder who came up with that one.
Just saying.....

Another cunning stunt to get his fat face in the papers, meanwhile exsoldiers are being refused because the new vetrans I'd card isn't on the list
What polling station did Angela Rayner use?
Depends what house she is registered at.

Didn't she sell it a decade ago?

Although does raise a point, could all MPs vote in Westminster instead if they chose as they all have second homes funded by the taxpayer there? Or do they have to use their constituency homes as their legal main residence?

As I understand it, you can choose which of your residences to register at for electoral purposes. MPs may be in a slightly different position, as they have to declare a primary residence, in order to get the 'best' personal outcome from the expenses system. And the five-yearly photo-op of them voting for themselves requires being registered to vote in the constituency where they vote.

I also suspect that it is fairly 'safe' (for the general population) to register at more than one address, at least if you are not a well-known public figure. You could use postal votes, to make the logistics easier, and to reduce the chance of physical recognition.

Turnout figure says it all, I'm guessing if they had council elections at the same time it would have been a lot higher.
