Loved Pockets of Stafford

I realised yesterday on my way back from the train station that cycling through Castle Town how much I love that quiet little pocket of Stafford. I don't live there, but when ever I cycle or walk through that part I think its a really lovely part of the town. I am sure it has its negative aspects but a brief pedal down the sidestreets, seeing a cat sleeping on a car bonnet, little traffic, proximity to the river and park, beautiful little handful of streets.

So the question is, what little pocket, or feature of Stafford do you love?

Great thread, and those of us living here are lucky!

How about;

Only a tiny slither, but, top of Weston Road, the bit between the two woods there, just before the island.

Most of the Isabel trail.

Across Two Waters Way bridge, onto the canal, you can go left (Haywoods) or right (Acton Trussell), lovely walk or cycle!

The drive from the crematorium on the Tixall Road into the Haywoods

Little walk in and around Walton-On-The-Hill, mainly the 'village, pop towards Jacob's Ladder whilst i'm at it.

Walk up and down Rowley Avenue, not several times, just the once, you don't want to look weird.

I have to agree with all that has been said about Doxey Mashes! It's great to have such an open green space so close to the town.

Garden Street.

The Oval ( not what it was).

Along the river from Fairway to Baswich Lane (soon to be not what it was, I suspect).

The path parallel to the Isabel Trail, behind the VW garage.

Castletown is a nice place to live. The only thing that really spoils living where we are is, the idiots that think the Doxey Road is a racetrack. They go by so fast, it's a wonder they haven't hit anyone yet.

Carol, St Paul's church is on the Lichfield Road not far out of town. St Leonards Avenue leads off the Lichfield Road up to what was GEC MRI

That bit runs parallel to the trail, just a few feet north. It goes from the stone road pretty much to the common Road, although the stone road end is more open.
