Well the sign had a start date of may 2016 and would last for 26weeksThats handy as the Highways agency quoted December 23rd initially. thanks for the update

I've been driving to work in Oldbury through Walsall for 9 years and theres always something going on...you just get used to it...next up will be when they replace the bridge that spans Junction 10 of the M6....
Deepest Sympathies
Not required....most days it takes les than an hour to get to work, less to get home. Now we're in the summer holidays that will come down. Its all a world better than what it used to be like before Managed Motorways....
Hardly an issue being 2 minutes from the motorwayDeepest Sympathies for bring in Sandwell 40 hours a week
Welcome to Stafford Forum @EasMid . Some of us go straight into the 2nd lane, cos if there's a car broken down in the 1st, there's a bloody good chance there will be an accident, and we don't want be involved in it.More smart motorways. It'll be great when its finished. I'll be able to drive up lane 1 at over 70mph while all the to55ers stay in lane 2 & 3 at 50 or 60mph. All those millions spent & years of slow traffic during construction & you still see them pulling straight out into lane 2 when getting on southbound at J13 even though there's nothing in lane 1 as far as the eye can see. Smart motorways for dumb drivers
You should pitch that to the Highways Agency as their new slogan.Smart motorways for dumb drivers
The lanes are consistently marked ie solid white line for full hard shoulder, intermittent white lines for locations where you test it as a usual lane....Consistency would help, you've just come up a long section of motorway where you can only drive on the hard shoulder if you are told you can then suddenly at J13 you are on a section of motorway where you can drive on what used to be the hard shoulder unless you are told you can't.

I just feel safer not using the lane that used to be the old hard shoulder. If ? Wouldn't you just react to the road conditions you encounter ?
