Drove past Max Edensor the other day and noticed they were having a re-fit. Seems to be done and re-opened now. Signage is still the same as before but when I went past there was a younger, trendier guy in there - has the old guy gone now? Anyone know anything?

Stafford needs a decent barbers at a reasonable price.

I'm friends with Max's daughter, and she posted this on Facebook about a week ago:

"Max Edensor, my dad, is still in business - he's the barbers on the Newport Road, there is a new guy who has taken over the lease & re-vamped the shop - I know that my male friends probably don't go to my dad for their haircut but if you can spread the word that he is still there (I know we're all good at gossiping lol) dad will be retiring but not for a good while yet.....!
Also, the new guy is looking for another barber so if anyone knows anyone who'd be interested pop down to the shop - ta peeps :)"

Cheers Andreas.... it looks way better now they have made it brighter and more modern in there - just need some new, modern signs on it and it could pull in a load more business IMHO.

Problem is, how do you know who's going to cut your hair if they are both in at the same time. Is it lucky dip?

@Mikinton - if you are a previous customer, any idea how much they charge for a gents cut?

Something for the weekend Sir........

My dad used to take me there from when I was knee high...... I remember asking for a grade 2 all over once, only to ask my dad a few times if he was sure. Yes that's fine a grade 2 he said. I'll never forget the bollocking my mum gave him when he took me home.

Must admit I haven't been in there for some time - I'm fairly un - loyal when it comes to be fair. Today I've been "up the stairs", but went Rooneys last month, The Barber Shop on Newport road before that Holmcroft before that. Wherever's easiest at the time really. The one in Penkridge square can be pretty handy as it's open on a Sunday.

You can still wait for Max or let Tom, the new guy, cut your hair - I know Max has a lot of loyal customers as he's been there for about 45 years, so to them waiting until he's free won't be a problem or any different than what they're used to - think he charges about £10....

I think it's about 6 weeks since I last went. I can't think that it exceeded a tenner so either that or £9 maybe.

When I used to go, (haven't been for a while, go somewhere else now) he used to charge £8-10, but the pricing was never consistent.
