microsoft has definitely dropped a bollock with vista, imo.. even they must realise it - cutting the retail price of VHP to only £65 in a desperate bid to get people to upgrade!

don't get me wrong, i'm not one of these linux-using microsoft-hating open-source e-hippies who loves to slag off microsoft just because they rule the IT seas with an iron fist.. i love microsoft - more power to 'em, i say.. but the whole Vista debacle looks like it's going to be Windows ME all over again!

i wouldn't be surprised if microsoft just get to a point where they draw a line under Vista, move on, and try and pretend it never happened lol..

Thank goodness they are in charge and not Windoze loving freaks! Vista really is pants: if I had a copy of XP I would have killed the Vista installation on my new pc yonks ago. I am definitely going to buy a Mac next time.

it seems you completely mis-read my post.. i was saying that microsoft were emporers, not beard-sporting tofu-eating linus-lovers!

vista is, indeed, as gay as a window.. xp, on the other hand, Just Worksâ„¢.. if you buy your computers from Toys Я Us then by all means get a mac.. good luck trying to get anything done.. and don't give me ":eng101: but macs are secure" - whatever, trevor :teef:

But you can still use it, I know businesses that still happily run on 2k. All that will happen is people buying pre-built PCs will be forced to use Vista, others will pirate XP as there is no way to buy it even if they wanted to. I own a fully paid up legal vista, won't use it though. My PC needs an overhaul first.

i think i'll stick to my 2 copies of fully-legit xp pro.

I got a free upgrade to Vista on my Dell, but its still sat gathering dust, I love new tech but not at the expense of being able to do what I need to be able to do.

I got Vista Ultimate a year ago because work wanted me to develop Sidebar apps for them. I've been pretty happy with it actually :P
