Back to the point of the thread, I simply deleted some naughty preference files in the Microsoft library which fixed any problems that I was facing. Now my Messenger is working fine and dandy, thankyou.
I would like to say that I own a G4 and work all day on a G5, miss RJS has an ibook and my bro has just got a second hand G4 from ebay and love them all to bitz.
