Looking for a secondhand bike to get me back on the road - medium sized frame, good make if possible - Specialized, Trek, Boardman or similar - full suspension aluminium frame - (probably can't stretch to a carbon frame)

Anyone know of anything available?

I'd go up to 600, maybe a bit more
Back to Bikes is a great little shop, but doesn't get the higher-end stuff unfortunately
May be worth having a word with one of the managers! In the summer I was looking to spend £500 ish on a decent road bike. Was only in the early stages, and wanted something to get me to Barmouth in a day! Was in the early stages of planning, and had not really discussed it with them too much. Ended up buying a second hand Peugot, but we had discussed buying a new one for well under the budget! Nice fella's, open to discussion if you talk to the right person, can get new bikes, and were happy to do so. Unfortunately can't remember his name! Was going to order it when I confirmed my budget, unfortanately didn't have as much spare cash as I thought! :emo: But B2B had been happy to do the deal within the budget for a decent new bike, at a very reasonable price.

Ended up doing it, Did it on a bike from B2B that cost £75, RESULT! OK they did service it just before I did the ride, and put on new tyres, but thet only cost me £50, I didn't get a puncture, and it had worked fine for 6 months, prior to that ! :bravo:http://www.staffordshirenewsletter....-pull-pounds/story-21191487-detail/story.html

Have a chat with them, I am sure you will be pleased If you speak to the right person! You have nothing to loose. Best of luck!

Oops re-read it! Specified a 2nd hand bike!, You're right, be very lucky if you got a decent 'formerly owned' mountain bike of that spec' at B2B so ignore what I said! Sorry! :quagmire:

Might be worth having a look here -
http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/lis...price=100..600&framesize=16,19,24,25,26,28,29
- i applied the filters medium sized and a £600 max price, some will be pick-up only but others will send. It's probably the best 2nd hand site to look at for a decent bike though you may have to sign up to contact the seller.

Are you inflexible on the FS front? £600 would get you a very good Hardtail new.

One other avenue, though it's probably a bit on the late side, is to contact Swinnerton at Birches Valley and Mammoth at Milford to see if they have any ex-rental bikes for sale.

Really good site, and there's even a Felt for sale in Stafford (though not sure how good those are) - thanks - very helpful

Thanks for everyone's help here - I was just about to travel to Bristol for one I saw on www.pinkbike.com but then saw this one pop-up on EBay - a Specialized Stumpy with a carbon frame for £650 - so I closed my eyes and clicked Buy it now....and wow is this a good bike, and I think amazingly cheap 201277119328 on eBay if the link is still there.

Really impressed - it is so light ! and the brain thing on the rear shock absorber works really well - has really got me into the sport, and can't wait to try the Dog on the Chase

Anyway, Mrs Reg now wants one - I suppose I'm going to have to stick with a Spesh - anyone know of a small frame or ladies MTB for sale?

(she's got a smaller budget, obviously)

Enjoying a drop of red.
I just had to Google it, and the grisly detail is here. It's like a builder's bum crack, you know it's there, you know you shouldn't look, but you can't stop yourself.....

Posts like that are going to give this forum a bad name. Unless someone is looking specifically for tips on Dogging In Stafford, of course.

Wonder if @Glam has seen it...
