Well today has consisted of another emergency visit to the vets with the cat & another £150 bill for 15 mins there & 2 types of medicine, a missed delivery, and an full blown argument with the minime.

Fingers crossed that's all 3 things covered.

My friend was complaining her house was a chilly 16 degrees...

I pointed out that here in Scotland that's considered summer!

Practically t-shirt weather!!
Thus is the first day I've been chilly, still not got the heating on though.... I've no idea of the temperature in the house as we have a very old back boiler that doesn't 'do' temperatures.....either I switch it on or I don't .. ..water is set to come on twice a day, but I'm still holding out on the heating....

I won't be putting mine on this winter but I'm very lucky to have a wood burning stove!

Although I can't do without my electric blanket!!

Well 2 out of 3 cats are terrified by the fireworks, the other one is drugged to the eyeballs after his vet visit this morning, so couldn't give a stuff.

and no more than 4" of water in the bath, plus the whole family uses the same water.
I used to enjoy a regular good soak in the bath in the old house...we are now on a water meter... quickest of showers now ! ( pity it's the first time we have ever had a power shower, trying to get it at it's least flow now as I can see the £'s being used up rather rapidly)

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why the Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.

You do have to wonder if it should be forgot. We’ve been burning effigies of Guy Fawkes for decade after decade. As a kid I remember making said effigy, (basically a boiler suit stuffed with straw) and going out to make money with ‘penny for the guy’ please in the street.

The monies gathered were mainly spent on penny Arrow Toffee Bars or Cotswold Rock or crisps rather than for exploding the government/King and other executive bodies. Guy Fawkes seems to have got full blame over the years, having been hired to light the blue touch paper and then leg it at great velocity, he came to a gruesome end … if only he’d had access to a small tactical nuclear weapon (about the same size as a shoe box) he might have succeeded, but alas, said item wasn’t available back then. (Not that ‘Tactical Nuclear Weapon Plot’ has quite the same ring to it as ‘Gunpowder Plot.’)

You do have to wonder if Guy was around these days, we might have a whip round and pay him to have another go, given the current crew in Parliament. Might be an idea to withhold the nuke though, we’d want to remove a large amount of hot air and bullshit, not alter the course of the River Thames.

Seems to me the event should be forgotten, and not celebrated. All it does is terrify animals and provide a means for kids to obtain explosives.
