Fixed a pressure washer by pulling apart 2 broken ones, feels like an accomplishment but if I was paid NMW for the job it would have been cheaper to buy the replacement parts! Pond wired back up too, filters cleaned, now lets see how long it takes before I can see fish again.
Already had a heron visit

Finally had the doctors appointment that took nearly a month to arrange, said I need blood tests. They can't book me one as it's too long a wait, so I need to go to the drop in at the hospital. Fair enough, but they can't print a referral as the out of hours doctor "doesn't log in" so can't print anything. I have to go back tomorrow, to get the bit of paper, to allow me to go to the hospital and queue.

Standard route to privatisation - make it as shit as you can so people will accept very poor service from the private sector instead.

Ugh.

The difference is quite stark. I email my (private) ENT, I get password protected PDFs of letters back and they also send them to my NHS GP… who then sits on it until I ask them to actually process it so I can get a top up of the drops I need 🫠

The NHS would run so, so much more efficiently if it took the efficiency aspects of private care and not just the problematic parts

But then who would steal the money? It needs to be only marginally better results, so better to lower the bar than actually compete then there's more dividends to go round!

I had pretty rubbish service from the private sector last year. Just booked another consultation, at a different hospital, which given the speed I could book in makes me hope it's better.

Be careful what you wish for, £1,400 was the cost for a procedure that had me stay in for a whole 3 hours.

Private Health Care = NHS trained workers on a day off

Any problems arising at Private Hospitals always end up at an NHS Hospital when complications arise. Not fit for purpose

The problem is he couldn't give me the paper request, or add one to the computer. I have to go back today to get that done, then I'll be allowed the test.

Which begs the question why don't they log in at night, rather than waste everyones time again today?

My tame practice nurse in Ireland starts at 7am one day a week (maybe more), so people can get test samples done without buggering up the whole day.

Working in a hospital. we can obtain blood test results anytime, day or night. I found out yesterday, I also have access. Made the Nurse in Charges night. Means she can get me look them up instead of her.

Wonder why on earth he couldn't add it to the computer there & then? How strange.

Although nothing surprises me if it's Holmcroft.

No, you pay to skip the horrendous queues, anyone who thinks otherwise is naive. I went from “yes surgery please” to being under in less than 3 months, initial referral took no time at all.

The hospitals can be nicer as well, mind you.
