Not sure Mr foxy will be alonh for tea tonight as the fair have arrived on the common. The generators are noisy & might put him & his friend & the 2 hedgehogs off.

Stray black & white cat has just had his biccys, but I'm not putting foxy food out just yet as he's getting later & later at coming due to light nights...

I missed the stray cat post. Are you looking after it @littleme and eventually taking him in ? Or just feeding him when he appears ?

We managed to get the trust of Rupert the stray cat back home in Stafford. His owners had up sticks and left him behind and he was getting thinner and thinner. Rather feisty at times, never knew when he'd suddenly turn and nip after enjoying a stroke. He'd come inside the house when hubby wasn't there for food . But as soon as he came home from work he'd go mad to get out. So no option of us adopting him.
Several of us were feeding him and made a little shelter in the neighbours front garden. Eventually got him caught , taken to vet and neutured and chipped to a nice gentleman in Uttoxeter that someone knew . He picked him up from the vets (without even meeting the cat before) straight after his op . Rupert changed into a calm and loving cat with his new 'dad' and we got to see lots of photos of him settling into his comfy new home.
I'd been in tears the day I went along to take him to the vets , crawling around the vets floor saying goodbye to him in his basket. But all worth it in the end. And the extra money left over from that we'd all chipped in for his vets fees went to help another stray cat , who'd just been brought in that morning after a road accident.

Elderly customers in the Bird in Hand yesterday lunchtime were whinging like billy-o about being held up behind Pat Collins waggons going onto the common.

The customers that you are referring to, whinge about everyone and everything, there's loads of them go into the Bird for their pensioners' special and spend most of their time there nurturing a cuppa or the same drink for hours.

They whinge if there's the slightest change to their usual menu or they can't sit in their usual seats.

Having said that it's good to see the pub being used and I suppose it provides a form of community hub and gets the elderly out and about.

Yes, but most just had a glass of tap water rather than "nurturing a cuppa or the same drink for hours".
I thought I was old until I was sat at the next table to them.
Twice I was briefly in a panic as one of them had a mobile phone that makes the same noise as mine - and a call is invariably "where are you ?" and "how long will you be ?"

Some of the best pub entertainment I've ever witnessed has involved a 'regular' finding someone occupying their seat.

I feed & pet him/her when I see it. It also steals any of the fox's food when it can, along with the hedgehogs & birds! You wouldn't really know he was stray, as he's looking rather plump

Had a lovely day out day. We took the MGBGT for its first outing of the year, meeting up for coffee with other members of the MG club at Aston Marina.
Then off we went in convoy through Sandon, Hilderstone, Stone, Yarnfield, Swynnerton, Trentham and ending up at Wedgwood Estate where we had a lovely lunch followed by a factory tour.
Really enjoyed the visit to Wedgwood, haven’t been up that neck of the woods for a while.

There were about 25 MGs today but I couldn’t get them all in the same picture.

If the red ones yours, it needs lowering to successfully pull off the bumper conversion. Easily done.

Oh and nice car 🙂

Mention of Aston Marina in talk about cars brings to mind possibly the most 'entertaining' conversion that might be attempted.

An Aston Martin engine in a Morris Marina.

Good luck with that...
I've seen a civic engine in a 'proper' mini, the entire bonnet was extended to make it fit and was done with several 1" segments added to ensure it didn't attract too much attention unless seen next to a real one.
