I ordered some jeggings (and loads of other things) from Marks and Spencer online, I've been very impressed with their service. Items arrive quickly, they keep you up to date with when things have been dispatched, expected delivery etc.

When I wanted to return some items I decided to take them back to the store rather than the faff of packing everything up and going to the post office.

I was quite surprised that the downstairs was open and I could have just bought everything from the store without ordering online.
It was very quiet when I went in (a Monday morning) so I'd definitely recommend shopping there as an option. It's preferable to me to actually see the quality of the item before purchasing rather than the continued disappointment of online shopping.
Thanks @Carole I didn't know the clothes part was open in Marks. I never usually order clothes online (only started ordering other things online since this covid thing) as I like seeing what I'm getting before I buy . Will have a look at their website now I know I can take items which don't fit back to the store as well as being good at delivering.

The Matalan ones were supposed to arrive in 3 days from ordering , so thought they'd tide me over til I could get to buy some good ones. If they do actually arrive and don't fit I'll have to wait til the stores open to return . Don't think I'd trust posting back to them now and hoping for a refund as it's such crap customer service.

Son ordered his trousers last week from River Island and they arrived the next day , so seems they are good to order from as well.

I ordered a suit from M&S online recently and ordered 2 sizes of jacket because I wasn't sure about the arm length with the intention of returning the one that didn't fit best.

I too decided to visit the store and it was surprisingly straight forward with no questions and no hassle. My card was credited there and then.

Like @Carole I noticed that people were shopping for clothes downstairs and on the way out I spotted that they had a few items of men's clothing downstairs. I don't know if they had changing rooms open to try the clothes on or not though.

I suppose what's good for Asda, Tesco and the like is good for M&S. It's just a shame they can't or won't open both floors up because I needed some new shirts and have vouchers that need spending.

There was only a small amount of school uniform when I went, but staff are more than happy to go & find things for you if you ask. As far as I'm aware all changing rooms are closed... although it doesn't stop some customers ignoring the signs asking them not to try anything on, and stripping off in the Isles.

.

That's good to know. Hoping everything fits or I'll be walking around with soon to be holey trousers (or getting the 'big'ones back out of the shed that have become far too big after losing 3 stone )

My drinking has been limited in recent months for various reasons. Been on one can of Guinness a day. This morning in Sainsburys they were sellling 10 x 440ml cans of Guinness for under a tenner !! Ten days drinking for less than a pound a day. If that had applied to my whole life, Bill Gates would have been phoning me up and asking me to lend him money.

I washed my trusty Swedish winter coat last night.

It was largely dry this morning, but it's been finishing off in the Solar Thermal Desiccation Facility all day.

The two parts are wearable as separate items, but I've put it back together for now - the winter has been in March for the last few years.

I think that's probably the second time I've washed it - every fifteen years, whether it needs it or not.

Nipped out 'quickly' just to give the lawns their first mow of the year. Ended up gardening for about 5 hours or more. Both front and back borders done as well as the lawns :) Got LOADS of ladybirds in the garden as well as a buzzy bee buzzing around all afternoon.

Watched my wife mow the lawn, whilst I sat in the conservatory working. Offered her encouragement though, “that bit there could do with a bit more”, “do you think the grass hopper might be a little full”, “its taking you ages”.
She really must have been having a bad day as she had a face like thunder at the end. Guess I will never know why.

Hoping at least one pair of M&S bottoms fit when they arrive ( fingers crossed ) today. The threadbare ones I've been wearing having finally gone into a whacking big hole.:embarrass: (Got bags full of bigger pairs in the shed that I slimmed out of, but don't really want to pile 3 stone back on again to get a pair of trousers to fit ).

Still no sign of the Matalan ones arriving. All I've got for my £30 is a load of automated emails 'Despatched ' , 'Still in Warehouse' several times over and after every chasing up email 'Thanks for your correspondence, we are working on it , but not working on it as no-ones here!'

Is it just me who's unlucky with deliveries???? Paid extra for delivery today. Royal Mail tracking yesterday saying due today by around this time . Postie been and gone......no parcel! Tracking now saying in North West and due to be sent to my local sorting office soon.

In a bad bad mood now

Looks like it got slung onto the wrong lorry , as it was supposed to be on it's way to Stafford Sorting office last night.

This morning in North West ... Then on it's way to Tyneside :o

That's why I'm so worried about being contacted (or not) about my second Jab. Nothing ever goes right for me !

Even my Tesco Click & Collect , the day after Boris announced this lockdown and Tesco website went into melt down with demand and wasn't producing paperwork for staff in the pickup place, was a big c0ck up. Had to get a refund for £60+ as I'd been invoiced but most of my goods weren't there. But without paperwork they couldn't do anything about it on collection. Just had to tell me to check if stuff was missing when I got home and contact customer services. Luckily customer services believed that I hadn't actually got half my shopping which was supposed to have been picked , and refunded straight away. Someone somewhere must have had a boot full of freebies....

I've just been informed by EDF that my electricity charge is going up by 11.3 percent per unit (kWh.) Current inflation in the UK is reported at less than 1 per cent.

Somebody is taking the piss somewhere along the line.

Well , as my Royal Mail tracking number is now not being recognised on their system :o ....I'm off for a walk in my holey trousers, hoping everyone I pass on the way has bad eyesight ..

Think I need to place another large order with a place that has delivered on time as promised , all the way from Edinburgh ...The Fine Wine Company :pint:

Skill point to Marks & Spencers customer service. A gift voucher winging it's way to me , refunding my next day delivery cost and going to chase up with Royal Mail as to what's going on as she can see the mammoth journey the goods are on around various parts of the country with no sign of an actual arrival date.

Even bigger holey trousers now binned , so hoping it's warm tomorrow to walk out in summer bottoms :)
