Some of you may remember me talking about Norman, my lovely friend from Haughton.
He’s 94 and has become a bit of a local celebrity since his return from the Normandy trip.
Nearly two years ago he gave me his memoirs to read.
It was a huge A4 file, typed out by him, unedited.
I started slowly, probably out of politeness, but then a little way in, I kept reading and reading, totally mesmerised.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, he came round today. His book has been published and he’s brought me a copy with a lovely heartfelt hand written message inside.
The only downside is that in the editing process they’ve missed out some of the best bits (according to Norman himself). I’m so glad that I read the long version. It was fascinating.

How many people get to be a published author at 94?
